Mountain Biking race 2:00:00 [3] 19.0 km (6:19 / km)
Just a little rain on the MTBO course today. Despite the minor torrential downpour prior to start time, the course was in great condition and the weather was perfect for a day of adventuring.
Greg and I have yet to clear this course within the 2hr time limit. Our goal each year has been the same, ride hard, have fun and laugh a lot. This year was no different. We were solid on our riding, nav went seemingly well until we were not far from CP11 when we realized we completely bypassed CP10. Oops. We backtracked to CP9 and got back on track..with help of another racer who was more than happy to help out. Worked out well as we were able to return the favor at CP12.
On route to CP13 I was feeling (overly)optimistic that we would make it by cutoff as we were flying on the trails..until the smallest bridge ever took me down. Classic Greg response.."Are you ok? Did you hit your head? Man I wish I had a gopro! " lol With a banged up shoulder and limited feeling in my hand, I accepted that we wouldn't be making the cut off. Not a huge concern as we had already fully accomplished our goal for the day. We rode hard, had a blast, added new material to our race stories AND found a little mud along the way.
