Running 35:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Pure Cadence

Ran with Katie along the river past Freeman's Quay. Shins were taped, shins didn't feel too bad whilst running, but I was very aware of them on bits of the path that were paved.

Exercises/Stretches 10:00 [3]

Leg on other knee stretch
Lunge wall stretch
Calf raises
Push ups

Note

Went to physio today and he gave me some really good stretches/instructions, including:
-lower leg balanced on top of opposite knee, turn foot out and pull with hand down (I get what this means even though it doesn't translate well to words)
-regular wall lunge stretches
-kneel on ground (balanced on toes) and lean back

Found that my lower inside shin muscles were most tender with the pain distributed throughout true lower leg (good sign that it isn't yet a stress fracture)

Suggested that I lower my running volume (50%) and don't run any hills for at least two weeks. He kinesio-taped along the stressed muscle and showed me how I could do it myself as well.

Running hills 20:04 [3] 1.79 mi (11:13 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Pure Cadence

Very long hill reps (around 1.30mins??) x8 in field beside Durham School--very uneven terrain on a squishy field.
They were a killer, but excitingly didn't feel my shins today!! Had a quick warm up and cool down before and after. Also it was SO beautiful today, excellent warm weather to do reps in!

Exercises/Stretches 5:00 [3]

Hip flexor exercise
Push-ups

Running tempo 19:53 [3] 2.82 mi (7:03 / mi)
slept:9.0 shoes: Brooks Pure Cadence

Tempo with Áine
6min warm up
2 mile tempo on grass pitch near science site-- 1st mile was faster than the 2nd, but both at a pretty rapid pace! :)
I felt awesome at the end of it all, though started feeling the eggs I had eaten 35 mins previously around lap 6. Next time I will eat earlier.

slept:3.5 (rest day)

Goodbye Skye!

Another 10 hour drive back to Durham had us stuck on the bus for most of the day. Shins were still tender, and ached a bit as I walked home from the science site with all my gear on my back. Decided to take a rest day and get a good night's sleep, as this week I need to power on with the Skye report due next week. Built up a massive sleep deficit over the past week, and need to recover from it!
