So the Hans Dampf are 850g each and at 29x2.35 with 20psi or lower run at more like 2.5s with great big sticky side lugs. No wonder the trails are so much fun but the tyres feel like they have a film of glue on the road.
Racing Ralphs TL easy Snakeskins 29x2.1 are 580g each and at 40psi will hold shape on the road while offering significantly fast rolling.
Obviously there will be a swap out for the race but I'm getting more and more why you need to have cookies and cake!!

Sleep morning run. Took a while for the legs to wake up. Very mild muggy grey morning. Sweat loss was 800mls. Watch died 2km from home so updated with that

Short spin with Peter and Kate on their spanky new HTs. Kate a bit quicker on her Orbea but Peter found the handling very different on his Cannondale 29er Lefty. I meandered up the Mountain behind Kate and then had fun letting the Pyga do the work on descents. Clocked 6.14 on the Skyball tech descent which is just 3 seconds off my best. I was flying down but met a headwind out on the open. We had to be back at the carpark before it closed so we climbed the tough rocky ascent to the return leg. We had a little time left by the end so spun up to do the Red2 skills loop. I attacked it and posted a 5.14 which is a full minute better than my best. Had a couple of hairy moments and stomped on the pedals on the uphill bits. Got the heart rate up that's for sure!
Good spin. Peters light HT with 29x2.1 Racing Ralphs were faster than the Pyga with 29x2.35 Hans Dampf on the road. He was running 20psi higher too. We were both driving down a road descent and he just rolled away from me despite me outweighing him by 10kg. I'm hoping it's just the rolling resistance and a switch to Racing Ralph's with higher PSI will get me more speed on road. The Pyga is clearly quick on technical terrain but most of the ITERA bike will be road or fireroad so the rolling resistance will be a higher priority than grip.

Onto the Kayak Erg when I got home. Big feed then. Now bed
Pretty tired starting this. Zoe up most nights this week maybe back teeth arriving. Managed to start and pause the watch at the same time. Usually keep an eye on stroke rate but needed toons to distract my reluctance to get this done. Kept it steady but did some "Big Gear" type stuff for slower thumping beats. Looking forward to an actual paddle this weekend
