Orienteering race (Classic) 1:30:41 [4] *** 10.13 km (8:57 / km)
21c shoes: Adidas Neptune XC Spikes

Good race. I managed to avoid big mistakes but collected few what I would call between big mistakes and small mistakes.

There were couple directional mistakes again. One was 180% mistake. I love my new compass but I got to learn how to take advantage of it every time.

Few times I just totally lost contact with the map. Worst was #10 where I was pretty much standing for like 2 minutes withing 50 yards from the flag.

Other thing I noticed that I tend to get way too tentitive near the flags. I know that I am close but I am affraid to spike or something. I kind of know where the flag should be, I even look that direction and run that direction. I got to work on my confidence near the flags. During the legs I am in perfect control, few times even adjusting my original route choice to better one once I spotted something better.

Other realization is that I have been running in the same maps for almost last 10 years that that does not improve my orienteering skills. I need to look for more opportunities to race outside Rochester.
