Event: ROC - Ski-O at Mendon Ponds Park

Orienteering (Score-O) 39:40 [4]4.2 mi (9:26 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Omni 6
Was not sure if I would make on time since I had to play driver for Ansis to get to B-day, wait till he wraps presents... I should have thrown in some running cloth since I ended up running in my street cloth. Hands were kind of frozen till about 5th control on my route (no gloves and no hat). Also I had a problem getting into map till I made a mistake on #4. Steve cought me and punched before me on #4 and even on #5. I passed him on #6 (sequence-wise, not control number-wise). Steve told me he still saw me at #8 (I believe it was #7 on map). #8 (#7 on map) was last misread I made in this course. I mistook rock wall as indistinct trail (now to think of it.... this is not the first time I made the same mistake on the same rock wall... speaking of home-field advantage...). Course was definitely runners course without too much of route chouces.

Now thinking of mistake I made on #8 (map #7) it begs a question should I be running with glasses or contacts (since I got glasses recently to help me readong computer screens). I have had similar misreads few times in last few year now if I think about it. Doc did not recommend contacts for me since my vision is still "reasonably good" and does not require wearing glasses all the time. However I wonder if I shall pursue contacts for orienteering purposes.

Got kicked off stationary bike while I was replenishing water bottle by grouchy guy who was complaining that I left sweat all over. I did not get into argument with him since I was ticked why he wanted that particular stationary bike since there was another available and was taken by another member uring our little "interaction"

Still watching Pats and Bolts
