Trails atrocious with mud and slick ice. 1 hour in E2 + 10/8/6/4/2 min hill reps.
Had trouble bringing HR down after the hill reps. Perceived effort was in E2 and wrist HR (Garmin) would start at E2 then spike suddenly to threshold, taking awhile to come back down while I switched to walking instead of running. I couldn’t tell if this was an artifact of my watch or truly happening as I could feel my HR rising a bit but definitely didn’t feel like threshold levels. Anyone have thoughts about this?? No trouble keeping HR in E2 until I started higher intensity hill hikes 1 hour in.
