Thursday Jan 31

Gym 35:00 [2]5 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Dreadful gym session. Still feeling tired after the weekend - and just generally tired and off form. Not really up for it at all. Aimed to do some hard intervals on the treadmill but gave up half way through the second.

Tuesday Jan 29

Running 47:11 [3]5.24 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Mudroc 290
Still a bit tired after the long weekend runs - legs still feeling a bit achey. Fairly good run nevertheless in new Mudroc 290's. They felt great after the disappointments of the last 2 pairs of shoes.

Sunday Jan 27

Orienteering race 1:25:00 [5]**** 7 km (12:09 / km) +450m 9:11 / km
spiked:29/29c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw O 330
Sosol in Holyrood Park. Another really tough race with long hard climbs. Bad start on Control 1 - it was difficult but didn't take enough time to work my way methodically to it. Navigation generally OK. Probably could have pushed the running a little harder although feet beginning to blister on the heels from about control 19 onwards.

Saturday Jan 26

Orienteering race 54:30 [4]*** 6.1 km (8:56 / km)
spiked:30/30c shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Edinburgh Street Race. Fabulous course all around the old town. Annoyed to be disqualified with a far from obvious road crossing being oob. Oh well - wasn't terribly fast anyway.
Running 25:00 [1]2.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Run to and from Holyrood Park for the Street O.

Thursday Jan 24

Running 30:00 [5]4.0 mi (7:30 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Another short hard interval run. Calf muscles really feeling it.

Wednesday Jan 23

Running 35:00 [5]4.5 mi (7:46 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Serana Williams run round the Meadows. Good form. Intense.

Monday Jan 21

Running 35:43 [5]4.61 mi (7:45 / mi)
ahr:157 max:171 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Tried out an iTunes workout - an interval run with Serena Williams. It definitely worked and helped push the pace and effort levels along very considerably. I've never sworn at a lady so much in my life before! She just wouldn't stop pushing.

Sunday Jan 20

Cycling 1:00:00 [0]5 km (12:00 / km)
Gentle cycle with the kids to Ocean Terminal.
Running 43:13 [5]5.4 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Arthurs Seat route. 2nd best time ever - just missed by a handful of seconds. Didn't feel fantastically strong but kept up a good steady pace throughout. Very pleased with the time as I haven't felt very fast of late.

Saturday Jan 19

Hill Walking 1:25:00 [1]5 km (17:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw O 330
Walk with Max to summit of Bells Hill. Relatively gentle. Clear sky but cold and fairly strong winds on summit.

Friday Jan 18

Running 51:00 [1]5.1 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw O 330
Run with Max through Hunters Bog on a cold and windy night. He did extremely well keeping going for a full 50 mins.

Tuesday Jan 15

Running intervals 47:47 [4]6 km (7:58 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Meadows Intervals - after several weeks of very slow intervals I was delighted to get round the first laps in 3 m 57. It was a real killer through and really need the competition of other runners at my neck to push me along. I did 3 shorter laps and then a final lap of 4 m 09. Not great form but certainly an improvement. Must get more regular at the Meadows or other runs where my pace is pushed.

Sunday Jan 13

Running 1:25:00 [2]9.44 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel Mojave
Gentle run to Corstorphine and back. Found it tougher going than I should have.

Saturday Jan 12

Orienteering race 30:00 [3]*** 600 km (3 / km)
spiked:13/13c
CATI O at Mortonhall. Decent run with one very bad mistake. Tough wee area to get to grips with a 1 in 10000 map.

Wednesday Jan 9

Running 52:08 [2]6.0 mi (8:41 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw O 330
Fairly gentle run to Holyrood. Went round the playing field and then up Radical Road. Walked most of the ascent.

Monday Jan 7

Running 50:00 [2]5.41 mi (9:15 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7
Gentle run to Holyrood park and then Royal Mile as there was still ice and sludge on the pavements in the park.

Sunday Jan 6

Running race 45:00 [3]5.0 mi (9:00 / mi) vdot: 34.5
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw O 330
Junior/Senior relay at Flotterstone. Good fun event but quite cold. Ran OK. Team came first.

Saturday Jan 5

Cycling 1:16:00 [2]11.1 mi (6:50 / mi)
First Cycle on the MTB in pretty dreadful conditions. Arrived home well muddy. Decent cycle. Bike OK apart from front sprocket shift from 2 to 1.

Friday Jan 4

Running 36:11 [1]3.0 mi (12:04 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw O 330
Gentle trot around Meadows and Links as it felt like my cold was finally clearing. Very slow but felt fine. Hopefully will have done me some good.

Wednesday Jan 2

Note
(sick)
Suffering from a cold over the New Year period. Normally a great time for fun races but missing out and stuck in the house.
