| My first AROC race ever with Phoebe and Nick Dent. Near newcastle started with an "exact score" sprint event (quite fun) around the resort. Next was a bike transition from the resort through 3 checkpoints to the shoreline, stuffed just before getting there by taking a road that went straight instead of the one up the spur. Next section was running along the coast rock shelf, including jumping in and out of the water. In CP 6, there was a water jump that we did by clenching our teeth, only to realise the punching had to be done BEFORE jumping. Nick went back and did it. Between 8 and 9 there was a 50 meter swim that really took my breath, as we were going up i was nauseating.
Back on the bike through 1 CP to a street event "collect them all" style. We got some gels and fluid in, and althogh i had cramps in my legs, once the electrolytes were in, i came back to life. On the bike through 3 CP's to the kayak section where we all suffered mostly due to no practice. Did some memory orienteering in Wangi Point. Back on the kayak and straight to the end.
Tired and sore afterwards but good sore. |

| A bag of dirty laundry dissapeared of my hotel room so i had to run on cotton tshirts, which was fine because it was very cold. Went for a quick loop when i realised i was doing quite a respectable pace, and since i was feeling allright, i just kept going for a second loop around the blue lake. The air was clear, the night was starry and the second loop it was way slower, but i guess it will benefit my endurance. ON the way back i was still feeling ok so i was thinking "what a good run, and also probably they did my laundry for me" so i went to reception and yes, they had taken it to the dry cleaners, but it was no favor, unless you consider getting charged 75 bucks a favor. |

| Last Day, feeling better than before i jogged portions of it. It was very hilly, hot and dusty and i was braindead by control 3. It was fun orienteering though, 2 big mistakes and thats it. |

| After the day before's race i wasnt sure i was racing or not. But i woke up feeling ok so i did race. I walked most of it but i guess it helped my back rather than anything else. |

| A total disaster. i was running M21AS but my back felt a bit tight from the day before. The same bloody injury i had in Perth, some muscle that goes from the back under the groin to the hip. I was very sore into the race and that contributed to getting lost much easier. Had to walk back in shame |
