trail running (long run) 5:05:00 [3] 30.9 mi (9:52 / mi) +1280m 8:45 / mi
shoes: Salomon SLAB Sense

Started early with it being CDR for the first 2.5 hours on a perfect morning for running at Llandegla.

Having looked at the Glencoe route profile it looks like there is a longish climb from the start which suits Llandegla well for training.

I can park up and run uphill for 45 mins gradually on good paths so chose this option...

In short.....

Great run. Felt easy. No isues with hunger, energy or the foot.

The injury was pretty much all I though about for most of the time though protecting it at all costs walking any technical or steep sections.

This might have helped because I could have kept going today!!

Later in the day I could feel the pain a little again but happy I could at least get the session done.

Note
(rest day)

took an unscheduled rest day...

I could definitely 'feel' my foot injury after yesterdays run plus I was at the trafford centre all day so wanted to rest as much as possible to try and get through the 5 hour run on Friday

Wednesday Aug 23 #

8 AM

trail running (easy) 1:05:00 [2] 6.6 mi (9:51 / mi) +340m 8:29 / mi
shoes: Salomon SLAB Sense

Stuck to the fire road for an easy run while my foot/ankle is healing

I didn't feel much discomfort apart from around the 50 minute mark but nothing too bad.

Monday Aug 21 #

trail running (regeneration) 49:00 [1] 2.9 mi (16:54 / mi) +20m 16:33 / mi
shoes: Innov8 X Talon 200

Easy recovery with the dog...

Aware of foot pain but no worse.

Nice morning and got out early to run the mountain bike trails in Llandegla before the bikes got on them....its lots of fun if you get there early enough!

11 miles of good man made trails before hitting the usual fire roads again

I had no issue with hunger this time...apart from maybe the last 10 minutes of the first two hours before I was due to eat. All in the head probably because my food started to burn a serious hole in my pocket!

I tried to finish with a long climb but nothing like Ben Nevis obviously....just 35 minutes of constant running up hill.

Felt really easy all the way through apart from my hamstrings did start to feel pretty tired in the last hour...

There were two 'incidents' though....

Twice I caught my left foot rolling almost forwards if that made sense which resulted in pretty intense pain. Both times it knocked me pretty sick if im honest and thought that I would have to limp back home but after a bit of walking I could get running again.

After the second time only 40 minutes from finishing I could feel some pain all the way to the finish.

Its the same I felt at L100 (not the ankle that stopped me) but it gets worse when I aggravate it....feels like an extensor ligament probably?!?

Really specific pain on the top of the foot which is aggravated by inversion movement.

its sore to touch still now (Tuesday) but ok walking/running.

Il avoid tech exercises or technical ground I think for now.....
