road running 1:29:00 [4] 21.66 km (4:07 / km) +159m 3:58 / km
shoes: Hoka Rocket X

Moderate run , light rain all morning and got a little heavier in parts but still t shirt weather and gloves..

Felt moderate but pace a little quick I guess then I just kept it that way while I felt good.

It was comfortably on the hard side but I would be lying if it was all true moderate I think.

Never breathing hard or anything and the odd little climb I just kept the effort level the same rather than push to keep a pace.

The last few KM I will admit pushing on a little just to see how I was feeling and sub 4km min was OK.

10 minute walk in the rain to cool down and again a little bit of an ache glute ,still now on Sunday evening but I guess to be expected.

trail running 1:40:00 [1] 14.0 km (7:09 / km) +376m 6:18 / km

Easy run , dropped the strideouts and walked some of the steep bits but it was sunny so took it very easy so I could stay out a little longer.

No issues but a bit of residual ache in the glute from the fartlek still ....not when I am running though.

trail running 1:28:00 [4] 14.6 km (6:02 / km) +469m 5:12 / km

5 x 5 uphill tempo

Knew it would be tough going maybe after mixing up the sessions a bit but wanted to get back on track for the weekend and figured it was low risk injury wise on the trails and uphill.

First one went well.

Second a bit laboured on the middle but just woke myself up a little then they went well until the last when I just had to work harder to keep form etc.

Could feel a bit of tiredness but matched previous weeks I think...was good to push bit I think.

I am recovering well, get to the bottom again easy now.

road running 1:20:00 [3] 18.0 km (4:27 / km) +70m 4:22 / km
shoes: Hoka Rocket X

Easy - 6 mile Fartlek - Easy

I had the session written down and went to do it straight after the school run on the lanes I have used for marathon training before, the inlaws live there and its as flat as you can get really but about 30 minute drive from home.

Nice quiet country lanes though so I don't mind the travel.

I had it written down but for some reason I couldn't compute the mixture of metrics. 6 miles of 400 / 1200 confused me and I couldn't figure out how many I needed to do.

I realise that sounds stupid now but at the time I was trying to put it in my watch, get changed and lace up the new HOKA rockets that had arrived.

Anyway, I did 7 sets to be on the safe side and it was the toughest session since ecoming back.

It was all pretty controlled but the lag on the watch was a bit annoying so mainly by feel then half way through a rep I would glance down.

I liked the Rocket X , closer to a marathon shoe than the Carbon X

3:40 felt fast , 4:05 felt comfortable enough.

Not much else to report...

Session went quick so that was good considering I did an extra one and no issues after.

trail running 1:00:00 [1]

Wilder now has chicken pox and he had a rough night so after doing the school run I planned to do the Easy + Hill sprints and Fartlek on Thursday but I was exhausted.

Did a few hours work at home then just had a nap on the sofa - couldn't keep my eyes open all morning so just though fuck it.

I only slept for 30 minutes but felt better after it.

Did easy + hill sprints in the evening instead with no issues.

There was a Christmas tree up in the village.

trail running 1:03:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:18 / km)

Diagonals - its meant to be easy + sprints but forgot to check the plan and as it was Tuesday just went and did them.

Ground is much softer now but good session , they feel easier than when we started back

No issues with the injury after feeling it towards the end of the Sunday long run.
