Proper brass monkeys out (-5) on the hill but yesterdays easterly wind had died down.

I nearly didn't make it in to the forest with the 500m lane being completely iced over and is a steep climb in a car so not runnable or even walkable in the shoe grips - I had to traverse the fence but once past there it was crunchy snow all the way

One yaktrak broke within 30 minutes of running which left one side working a little harder - I chose to shift over every 20 minutes , prob a bit over cautious it wasn't that much difference.

Running itself was fine , I felt fresher than yesterday energy wise but legs were a little more tired....the snow was very hard going in places today which didn't help.

Happy with the week given the conditions and no more is forecast with rain coming on Tuesday.

cycling 1:26:00 [4]

Virtual Alpe Duez with a friend so ended up more effort than moderate but not extreme ....had to push on a little near the end as the bell was ringing for tea.

More fucking snow , I know I said it might but I got up for a piss at 3am and noticed nothing but I left in the middle of a blizzard and it didn't really stop.

Quite strong easterly winds meaning I could have done with goggles on without sounding too dramatic. Warm and dry with good kit but took a battering and the wind was causing small drifts.

Anyway I am sure you are bored of the weather updates being in Grenada so will leave it there.

Got home and Winter wanted to run then we all went out for family walk so I will be honest - cant see me getting on the bike later but maybe tomorrow.

Currently eating everything in sight its definitely a different beast running depleted in the snow like that

On a side note since Xmas I have visibly lost body fat but not weight ...not intentionally just an observation.

80 Moderate...

Ran on the lanes as it has given snow again tonight so maybe the last chance for a moderate there for a few days, its raining and 9 degrees right now so not sure how true that will be.

Felt good on the firm ground, all from effort and glanced at the KM time marker maybe 4 times in total as it vibrated.

went over time a wee bit but just to avoid one section of out and back I don't enjoy

I was VERY hungry by the finish today but seem to be OK when running.

*Edit: session was meant to be 1h 45' moderate so must have read/remembered it wrong sorry

Easy + Hill Sprints

Snow pretty much melted so took the dog higher up the mountain , wrong shoe choice as it was really wet and those INOB8 Terra Ultras are dog shit in anything like that...went on my arse twice just pottering around.

Could feel that I had done a hard run the day before so kept it very easy...wasn't too keen on the hill sprints but did them at half way and as good as I could expect in wind / rain and wet ground.

SE run fasted

I live next door to the guy who owns the MTB centre in the forest , I bumped in to him yesterday as he works in the forest through lockdown and he had offered to do a lap of the fire roads in his truck to clear a path for me which was good of him.

That plus the overnight rain meant that it was just some slush left in his tyre tracks and by tomorrow it will probably all be gone.

The run was good , left feeling a little hungry but then didn't give it a second thought and energy felt good throughout with no real dips.

From 2:15 I was ready for an energy boost but its mainly downhill from there so was fine.

BIt sore in the glute afterwards meeting the kids at the park but not during.

Everything else felt good

Tuesday Jan 26 #

9 AM

trail running 1:33:00 [2] 15.0 km (6:12 / km) +428m 5:26 / km
shoes: Salomon SLAB Sense SG

Easy effort felt good on the snow which was still about 10cm but much softer..

Couldn't find anywhere to do strideouts though , snow was too slippy in the forest even with yaktrax and the roads by the house like an ice rink.

7 PM

Weight Training 45:00 [1]

Squats + core

I figure the best way to do some specific core work for me is after something like this - the garage is like a walk in freezer so need warming up a bit first.

Monday Jan 25 #

trail running 1:26:00 [2] 13.46 km (6:23 / km) +372m 5:37 / km
shoes: Salomon SLAB Sense SG

Took it as easy as you can running in that snow , legs feel strong on these though
