road running 1:55:00 [2] 21.19 km (5:26 / km) +434m 4:55 / km

Very easy run but nice weather and enjoying a podcast so stayed out a bit longer than planned but that also kept the mileage consistent with other weeks

I walked anything steep and didn't really look at the watch so genuine easy run.

I won't be able to go long on Sunday so did it today

Same effort as Friday but slightly further afield - havent ran here since last summer and it was with a friend so this time it was good to see the difference in fitness

I know the trails well here (Clwydians) and I know when I would tire or hike in the past but that was 18+ months ago.

It could be just a good day but I felt much stronger on familiar sections and especially on the run back to the car.

Good to feel like things are going OK but again no pole use.

No real fatigue afterwards too but then I did just sit on the sofa watching sport.

Will email you with a bit of an update on schedule etc for sessions now the kids are in school etc rather than me just changing things around.

Specific Endurance

Good run overall with no dramas - these almost feel bread and butter at the moment.

I have a bit of fatigue afterwards abut apart from that its comfortable enough but the hills are more like long tempos, never too steep to really test muscle fatigue I think.

Its also difficult to justify using the poles, I know you said use them but its just a hinderance and slows me down on this terrain.

I am going to head to the real hills next week before everyone is allowed though and use them - we are meant to 'stay local' but don't know how they can police it now and its guidance anyway not law so they can fuck off.

1 mile hill reps.

Only managed 2 and a half reps today due to getting a phone call half way through from my mum who had a flat tyre not too far from where we live.

By the time all that was sorted I had to do some work and wasn't too motivated to go out again.

Easy + hill sprints

Windy but nice and dry, the hill sprints didn't feel great but it was on soft ground compared to the lanes I have used recently.

Did 6 and felt good to get them done given they felt sluggish.

Recovery with the dog - no issues

I can't get to a pitch during the day for diagonals so did a hilly Fartlek with friends ...mainly me pushing the effort on the uphills a bit and letting them recover everywhere else but they are fit enough for that.

Headtorch needed by the end but nice to have company once a week

Easy + Strides

Feel much fresher and free of the cold or whatever I had at the end of the week, legs felt good too although the effort wasn't the same yesterday for the 3hrs compared to last weeks 4.

6 PM

cycling 1:10:00 [3]

For some reason jumped in to a race last minute then 10 minutes in after pushing like fuck to stay in the top 20 Zwift kicked me out for pushing the watts too high in that category.

Thing is because I am lighter I tend to out work the fatties around me so will have to get the balance better next time.

Anyway put the basket back on and minced around Surrey like I should have in the first place
