That was way too windy to be enjoyable. Topped off by the boiler not working when we got back, so no hot water. Fantastic.

Strength (5kg Kettlebell) 45:00 [4]

Legs were shaking by the end. That said, I think I need to upgrade to a heavier KB.

Been following an interesting story from the NY Times about an alleged triathlete cheat (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/10/sports/julie-mil...)

Official photos from one of the races in question show her at different stages of the run wearing: 2 watches, and the ankle timing chip, or; 1 watch, a wrist strap, and no ankle timing chip. Turns out she has an identical twin sister... (who clearly wanted to see what her own running time was).

Reminds me of the last half IM I did. The woman who ultimately won, started out on the 3x7km lap run course about 8mins in front of me. She finished an hour in front of me. Now, I did mooch around those 3 laps in 1hr55. But on my math, I think she ran the fastest ever half IM run by a woman. Maybe even by a man.

Running (ChelsField 8) 53:31 [4] 8.0 km (6:41 / km) +120m 6:13 / km
ahr:149 max:162

Pushed a bit harder today, so was pleased to go nearly 3mins faster than the other day, particularly as torrential rain over the last 24hrs has made my new favourite run quite slippery and a muddy bog in places.

Noticed a big difference in my left ITB today after finally nailing the problem in it last night (ouch) on the foam roller. Seems to have significantly reduced the pain I've been feeling in my hip bone.

Strength tempo (HIIT) 35:00 [4]

Haven't done HIIT in ages, and it felt like it too. Back in the City from next week though, so will get my lunch group bootcamp sessions happening again in the Barbican. I don't really want to go back to work, but the lunch sessions are definitely a positive.

Strength (Kettlebell session) 40:00 [4]

Felt it in my glutes today. Good session. So much nicer being outside again now the weather is better.

Running (ChelsField 8) 56:16 [3] 8.0 km (7:02 / km) +105m 6:36 / km
ahr:145 max:158

Haven't done this run in about 5 years, bc it had become completely overgrown in parts & my legs would end up scratched to bits & rashy for days. Decided to give it another go today straight after the KB session while my legs were feeling warmed up, with the addition of long compression socks, open patella knee support, long skins tights & my Fellraisers. I felt great from the first step, and whilst I was just plodding the whole way, I had no calf pain. Right heel hurt as expected, mainly up hills, and left knee was just unstable downhill. But it has been a very very long time since I've been able to indulge in the pure enjoyment of simply being able to run - I absolutely loved it today. Can't wait to go again! (Not sure what previous times I used to do for this run. Will take me a while to find them in my old records).

Note

Previous times from 5 yrs ago seem to be 52mins. That won't be a problem, particularly now that the previously overgrown bit has been cleared. Will need to be nimble on the 22 stile crossings tho.
