Note

DD qualified today in the GB team selection trials for the world age group cycling road race champs in August :-) He rode 127k in 3:16:24. And was in a peleton crash at 70k. Rode with one other guy from there, & he said it was the race of his life. Very proud :-)

An ex-colleague asked me out for a ride today, so we did Out the Back and I felt good so I'm glad I went. Download into Garmin & I discovered "Segments" at the bottom of the screen, so checked the Col du Skelly segment ("Beddlestead Lane Southbound"), & in a ride I did recently, my split of 10:13 (today I did 12:44) is the fastest W45-54, the fastest person under 56kg, & the 8th fastest overall woman!! (Although 4 of the "women" above my time in the list have mans names....) I'd need to change my "privacy settings" to "public" though to show on the leaderboard, so I'll have to see if I want to do that. Knowing about these "segments" could be very good or very bad.....

Big test today, see how I went jogging for a bit longer, with the usual 10min walk warmup. Good news - I managed 50mins of jogging injury free! No calf issues at all (although the R2V2's almost feel like they're strangling my calves for the first 10mins of jogging (which is uphill), but they soon settle down). However I just ache in my knees & ankles. The ground was lovely & soft underfoot after the recent rain, but still, those joints hurt. This seems to be the way things are for me now. Anyway, was good to actually jog for a bit longer. Will keep on it.

Gardened all afternoon again. It's looking lovely :-)

After an afternoon of an unplanned garden clean out, & in dodgy weather, we decided to do a fartlek ride which was actually really fun. So much easier than running fartlek as the bike carries momentum into the recoveries. 5mins faster today on this loop than the other day too, so a double bonus - yay :-)
