Cycling (Bewl Water) 4:36:20 [4] 107.0 km (2:35 / km) +1523m 2:25 / km

Legs sore & tired today & I really struggled feeling every uphill. We stopped for lunch at Bewl, but they had run out of everything other than cake, so not great fuel for the 2nd half of the ride (although the carrot cake was bloody delicious). Hung a left at Kemsing through to Otford rather than climb Cotman Ash like we did last time, and I was glad to finally get home after finishing up Shacklands. Was a lovely day for a ride though.

Surprised to see that I rode a faster average km rate today than last time we did this loop.

Running (3 Woods) 59:09 [3] 9.6 km (6:10 / km) +149m 5:43 / km

What a difference cooler weather makes! It must have been at least 10 degrees cooler today and I felt much better. Ran 3mins faster than last time and felt comfortable the whole way, even on the uphills. Unfortunately as I came out of the woods and onto the road, 1.5km from home, I rolled my right ankle on the road quite badly. I think the road surface had a lump in it that I didn't see. Will have to be careful now as I have historically hurt a calf within a week of rolling an ankle.

Cycling (Nippy 30) 1:05:44 [4] 30.0 km (2:11 / km)

The plan was to do a 60k TT effort session today, with Dave pacing me after he did 100k on his own first. Unfortunately he didn't start until after 3 p.m. and the temperamental Garmin paired with a nasty wind & wet roads meant he didn't arrive back home until 7 p.m. By which stage it was too late to try and do 60k, so we did Nippy 30 instead, into the horrible headwind. The roads were still pretty wet, Pilgrims Way was closed near the end so we had to get off and walk through there, and note for future - if you're going to attempt a TT effort session, warm up first. We were straight into 20 mph which for me on cold legs, was not sensible. Still managed a 35sec PB in spite of all of this, although I was predominantly on Dave's wheel.

Cycling warm up/down (Spin bike) 30:00 [1]

Strength (4x20 reps) 30:00 [3]

Fwd lunges (5kg KB), double mtn climbers, goblet squats (5kg KB), left plank reach, squat thrusts (2x3kg), seated double twists (8kg KB), back lunges (5kg KB), right plank reach.

Quads felt the fwd lunges, but found the rest pretty easy.

Running (3 Woods) 1:02:47 [3] 9.6 km (6:32 / km) +149m 6:04 / km

Really proud of myself for going for a run rather than just talk about going for a run :-) Felt a bit laboured especially up the hills, but I got up them ok and finished fairly strong rather than faded. Warm again today (30C) so I deliberately ran through the woods which have a very heavy canopy so were shaded and lovely. No injury issues just very tight in both ITBs.
