Orienteering race (Rugby Urban O) 50:40 [3] ** 9.75 km (5:12 / km) +89m 4:58 / km
ahr:149 max:161 spiked:28/32c

Course 2 (nominal 6.4km, 50m ascent)

Struggled with #1 (as did most, it was hard thinking for a first control), there was maybe a better route north of #3 to get to it (wasted +40s here). Then should’ve run straight on past #2 to #3. Overran #6 by mis-counting the L and R road junctions, but doubled-back to find it OK (+80s) - the guy I caught at #1 and had been sort-of shadowing me ran straight past and off the map :) Dithered to #11 (+30s) and then my marathon-style legs just sort of packed up, a max HR of 161 is not much to get excited about. Glad of the 2-min timed crossing - used it all! (Needed that time to re-fold the very long control descriptions for the second half) Went L and R for the long #23, when R and L might've been better – felt like I was wasting time there.
