BROTH!

billy qualified for state in both the 4x8 and the 32, so happy with his races, finally cracked 2:00 on the opening leg of the 4x8 in 1:59, then outraced a freshman phenom for 4th in the 32, just textbook race strategy, so proud of him, and special that mb and joan came out for support, that meant a lot, thanks, and you got treated to a great race. so happy.

T 23:40 [4] 3.04 mi (7:47 / mi)

5K race on the paved trail in JB park, some hills, nice weather, a little on the warm side but can't complain. nice little race, 3rd annual but my first time doing. very patriotic, instead of medals, we got dog tags saying "I do this because I care", fundraiser for wounded vets and Team Triumph who push handicapped kids in the race, which is pretty cool. great group of people. I would definitely do this again. VFW color guard with a 3 gun salute and real gunfire to start the race added to the flavor. humvee with real soldiers in battle fatigues for race marshals. no one went off course!

the course was rolling hills and a nice little rise in Mile 3, right when it hurts. some good masters distance guys ahead of me. I might have gotten 3rd in my age group. started well and ended well, dug up that last big hill. Mile 2 was on my own and had difficulty keeping pace. Again, bombed the downhills and kept pace on the uphills.

E 12:38 [1] 0.65 mi (19:26 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Stinson Light

Moss Field closed for graduation so took a field trip to SLU Medical Campus track off Grand . . . nice new track, felt fast. built just in 2010.

some SLU/ BRR coach was training a masters athlete, misc rec/ crossfit types there as well, then Fit for Life Academy track team showed up so had to run in the outer lanes.

R 37:30 [4] 5.6 km (6:42 / km)
shoes: Hoka Stinson Light

JD R workout #2 for the week :

6x400m on 4R
2x200m on 2R

1:31, 1:27, 1:27, 1:30, 1:27, 1:27 (that last one was 1:26:62 . . . haha, but had to round it up)

39, 42 (last rep in lane 5, had to dodge hurdles and not really clear where the 200m ended, had to make room for the high school track team warmup)

I was definitely feeling the social pressure of the coach and the other masters athlete as they were watching my reps closely and discussing my form, so I imagined, though they seemed to be talking baseball every time I went past them. haha.

weight:195lbs

Day 8 IF: the big weigh-in, hoping for some good progress, given the sacrifices I made . . . eating broth for dinner for a week. though it was really yummy. haha. can't get enough of that ol broth. mmm-mmmm. good. well, it is risky placing so much emphasis on a weigh-in because bad numbers can play a number on the head. and lots of things influence the numbers. such as water weight, state of dehydration. so did the measurement same time of day after the Sunday long run so should be similar level of dehydration, and the numbers were . . . yes, 4.8 lbs down. hopefully, that is pretty much all fat. I think so since I feel a lot less like "jiggly-puff" out there and still feel pretty solid. that number certainly motives another two weeks of IF, or at least the next week, one week at a time, in the mind game of the fine line between deprivation and fat loss, since it means I can get down to a level where I know I have been "competitive" in the past, relatively so. the number is precise to the first decimal.

E 58:44 [1] 5.1 mi (11:31 / mi)
shoes: Hoka Stinson Light

E run, kept it real easy to recover from race, felt great, actually an enjoyable experience, compared to the searing pain of racing.
