Whittier had their first meet last Sat . . . it was the Rossi Relay, all relay events so Billy ran the 800 leg in both the DMR and the 4x8. Whittier finished 5/20 in the DMR and 8/20 in the 4x8 in a tough field of SCIAC and some D2 teams. He ran 1:59 in both races though the handoff in the 4x8 got messed up. here's recap from the facebook.

more inside scoop on the DMR . . . Rueben established the team in about 8th place with the opening 1200, all 20 teams on the track at the same time! so you can picture this massive field, then Josh and Billy pretty much maintained that position through their legs, Billy said he went out in the first lap in 57! to catch the lead group ahead, then passed them with about 300m to go mark, then they passed him at the 200m, then he caught up again down the stretch, wish I could have seen that! but Julian ran a blazing 4:24 1600 final leg to put them up in 5th. boy that would have been great to see, I can picture it in my mind's eye though.
