I 10:00 [4]
(injured) shoes: unknown Brooks

planned 6x50m starts . . . did 3x and felt fine . . . about 3 strides out of the blocks, pulled left ham pretty hard, stopped immediately and ended the workout, too sore to even cool down, definite "twang" mid hamstring. OK, so that's how it's gonna be. icing now, probably a good week. I usually workout on Sunday to give my legs time to recover from Fri strength, but snow forcast tomorrow, so this confirms I really need that extra recovery.

Rudy motivated me to train for the senior games this spring and summer, beginning with the St Charles games on May 4. I'm so heavy, there's no way I can compete in my favorite event the 1500 and throw in a random 800m for fun. But . . . I might be able to run some decent 200, 100, 50m sprints, at least for a senior. I've watched those races and there are some big bodies moving pretty fast. I watched about 40 minutes of YouTube vids on start block technique and think I can self coach myself at least to get in the ballpark of a block start. There are only a couple guys using start blocks anyway. Something to shoot for.

Gonna do some low intensity sprints at Moss this afternoon, see how the legs feel. I've been strength training for six weeks at SMTC so feel I have some muscle so I won't immediately hurt myself. Just do 70%.
3 PM

Walk/Run 20:00 [1] 1.5 mi (13:20 / mi)
weight:220lbs shoes: unknown Brooks

easy jog around the hood to recover from strength training at SMTC Friday

E 20:00 [1] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: unknown Brooks

warmup, cooldown, drills, Moss Field

I 20:00 [4] 0.75 mi (26:40 / mi)
shoes: unknown Brooks

3x 200m at 70-90% intensity; Moss Field; the only thing I felt good about was coming out of the start position; I pretended I had starting blocks and went down into the mark, and set position, and drove out of that position, felt good. Then . . . my fitness was so terrible, the first rep, I nearly passed out, dialed it down the next two but faded 20m and then 40m before the line. Geesh, terrible. But it's still Feb and I have 8 weeks to not be terrible. My calf tightened up so I called off the 4th rep.
