Note
(injured)

a week out from the injury, the hamstring is still tender and cannot really push on the pedals without some discomfort; the area has a massive blood stain, covering the entire lower back of the leg and some discoloration spread to the upper calf . . . must indicate a major tear and lots of broken blood vessels leaking out into the tissue. Geesh, another week of this and I will probably see a doc. but I have regained some function, not enough to work or stretch the muscle though. which reminds me . . . MORE ICE!

Note

hopefully, weather will hold to get a swim buoy workout at the pool this evening

Cycling 20:00 [3]
(injured)

Swimming 40:00 [3]

16x50m pull buoy swim workout with 200m warmup/ cooldown

7 AM

Cycling 20:00 [3]
(injured) (rest day)

commute to Metro; if I push too hard on the pedals, feel the hamstring; so soft pedaling and going slow but at least moving

Note
(injured)

plan to do a MWF swim workout at the rec center pool with the pool buoy while the hamstring heals, and TR a modified home strength workout minus anything that hurts the hamstring, so no squatting, dead lift type movements, but can work all other systems, core, upper body; don't fee good burning a SMTC punchcard when I can't do all the exercises.

Yardwork 1:00:00 [3]
(injured)

clearing weeds and weed stumps from back lawn, taking them out by the roots, some overhead sledgehammer work on the roots, sawing some big weeds the size of small trees with my new bow saw, it's a jungle back there! Funny thing the "weeds" are probably native plants well adapted to that micro-climate but I have to clear them out to make way for acceptable plants, I guess I didn't but it really looked like the Missouri wilderness, home to suburban wildlife and stray cats. Well, my neighbors should be happy.

Yardwork 30:00 [3]

cleaned gutters, up on the roof
7 PM

Swimming 40:00 [3]
(injured)

another pull buoy workout 16x50m with minimal rest, in two sets of 8x50m ; got by with much less rest between reps than the day before, finally worked hard enough where I felt out of breath.

Note
(injured)

gonna try some swimming with the pull buoy this evening, all arms; hamstring is still very sore, too sore to stretch even. 16x50m (two sets of 8x50m) "as much rest as I needed"
6 PM

Swimming 40:00 [3]

swimming with the pull buoy . . . first time in a long time, like 20 years; about 100 times easier than full swimming with kick; difficult to even get the heart rate up because just upper body; the pull buoy also positions the body more horizontally in the water, so less drag, which makes me go fast; as they say, "if you want to go fast, go fast", the faster you go, the easier it is, well, unless you get tired out moving all those muscles in the legs and lower body; well, it's a good substitute while the hamstring heals; really did a number on that, big blood stain coming to the skin, must have really torn that sucker. still tender to the touch, does not bode well for returning to the velodrome, although able to spin on bike without pain, at least commute to Metrolink with no pain.
