commute. missed the train by . . . seconds, pulled away just as I approached the top of the platform . . . so cycled the rest of the way in the light rain. a little excitement going through the tunnel under Hwy 40 from the Science Center to FP. road into the water . . . up to my hubs . . . then up to my knees, then seat, . . . still traction on the wheels, then just as about to exit, the water lifted me off my seat and lost traction! had to actually swim to the end of the tunnel, dragging my bike and heavy backpack. thankfully, I'm a good swimmer. I had NEVER seen that much water in the tunnel, and I thought for sure it was just hub deep. I have new empathy for motorists who drive into water. the brain just does not process new situations quickly. and by the time I was in "trouble", it was too late to back out. if that had been a river, I would have had to drop the backpack and bike and swim for it.

Cycling 10:00 [3]

warmup in 100+ heat index at the velodrome, didn't need much warmup

R 20:00 [4]

changed the schedule to match sprints since only 14 people showed, typically 40-50 racers . . . so three max efforts over a couple hours. heat made it very challenging, even with ice packs between races and 4 bottles of hydration mix. I survived.
