Swimming 55:00:00 [3]

70 lengths in 55 minutes. Alternating 10 length bouts of front crawl and back stroke, with the last 14 front crawl at a faster pace. Difficult to do so with so many people in the lane. Felt a little slow.

Swimming 55:00 [3]

70 lengths in 55 minutes.
Alternating 10 length bouts of front crawl and back stroke, with the last 20 front crawl sessions at a faster pace (with a recovery 10 length back stroke in between). Challenging, and legs and arms (especially) felt heavy, but good.

Swimming 1:00:00 [3]

80 lengths in one hour (20 front crawl; then alternating 10 lengths of back stroke and front crawl, with the last 20 front crawl lengths at a faster pace).
Aimed to do the last 20 front crawl in fast 2 length intervals with a quick breathing interval between them, but difficult with so many people in the lane.

Cycling (Studio Cycling) 45:00 [3]

Early morning session. Hard work. Combination of sprints, hill work, cycling fast and flat with back-to-back reps. Legs certainly felt it. Calf felt fine.

Cycling (Studio Cycling) 45:00 [3]

45 minute Spin Cycling session at the University Sports Centre.
Really good. Very hard work (absolutely drenched), but felt like I had really worked and most importantly it was bearable for my calf. A good high intensity substitute for threshold runs for the foreseeable future.

Running long 1:36:26 [3] 12.36 mi (7:48 / mi)

Long run. Supposedly 18 miles but certainly not a good idea with my calf.
I aimed to run for as far as comfortably possible. The run was in fact dominated by an overwhelming feeling of nausea, such that I had to stop at mile 10, sit and walk a little, before jogging the last couple of miles.
Quite a failure, really. My calf felt OK, not great, but didn't reach the same level of pain as the previous Sunday's 16 miles.
NB: calf, and gluteals both very tender the following day.
