Cycling 3:11:15 [3] 47.2 mi (4:03 / mi)

Great ride. Weather wasn't very appealing at all - persistent wind and drizzle, for the first half at least. Warmed up quickly though and good practice to ride in less pleasant weather. Started the extra loop through Shaftenhoe End, but carried on to Great Chiswell and over the motorway to loop back at Ickleton. Route from then onwards was as of Cambridge, and an enormous relief to find the hills that I struggled with so hugely, quite do-able. Rode Mummy's bike again and felt almost as energised as before. Something funny going on.

Cycling 1:14:18 [3] 17.8 mi (4:10 / mi)

Evening Barack loop. Legs felt tired at first but soon got the Bianchi thrill and just seemed to move without too much effort. Drizzle and wind - a perfect example of not wanting to leave the house but returning thankful.

Fabulous ride. Normal route + the extra loop through Shaftenhoe End and Little Chiswell. Mummy and I swapped bikes in preparation for riding her Bianchi for LeJOG. Felt the most energised since I can remember - legs painless (took ibuprofen as we left), flying downhill (top speed 31.5mph) and climbing up out of the saddle. Potential placebo effect? Could have done it all over again. Such a promising ride. And the most spectacular coral sun. Joy.

Cycling 1:16:00 [3] 18.0 mi (4:13 / mi)

Squeezed in the Barrack loop between work experience and supper with the school gang. Another absolute scorcher (28C). Timings approx. as used MapMyRun, and hopefully a little too slow.

Cycling 2:20:00 [3] 34.6 mi (4:03 / mi)

Glorious evening. Slightly different route to the normal loop. Out through Shaftenhoe End and up the mammoth hill from Little Chiswell. We sent a herd of deer to flight and watched them hurtle into the distance en route to Arkesden. What an absolute joy. Glutes sore towards the end so switched to more out of the saddle climbing. Still a little left in the tank by the end, I hope.

Cycling 2:15:00 [3] 31.9 mi (4:14 / mi)

The usual loop, on a gloriously sunny morning. Paced myself as I planned to do a similar distance later in the day. Legs felt a little heavy and unwilling at first, but felt more energised as the ride progressed - possibly because the last leg from Rickling Green onwards is just so beautiful (?). Hottest September day since 1949, apparently.

Lovely ride. Shared Scottish stories with mummy the entire way, and barely thought about my legs going round. Hoping for more of the same in the run up to my LeJOG stint next week.
