Note
(rest day)

Bit annoyed. Had blisters the last couple of days. My dad suggested to cut off the dead skin above which was a stupid idea but I even more stupidly decided to do it. So now I have a big open wound on my foot. So yeah I now can’t really run.

Chipping Sodbury Parkrun : 1st/15:47

First time doing this course, but looked relatively fast. Most of the course was on loose packed gravel which wasn't ideal but not the end of the world. 3 laps, with each lap having a long gradual grind and a long gradual downhill (but relatively flat) with a couple of sharp corners. Wasn't overly confident about even going sub 16, legs felt a bit heavy and course wasn't as fast as i'd hoped. Went off hard, first km in 2:59. One guy stuck with me. He followed for basically the whole race breathing down my neck but he never overtook. Pace was kept high but dropped off quite badly on the climb on the last lap, which was expected. Also had to do a large amount of people dodging on the 2nd and 3rd laps. This guy was still right on me. Was quite surprised to kick away from him with 100m to go, was almost certain he was going to sit n kick. Anyway crossed the line very surprised and happy with the time. New 5k PB, I'll take that.

Running 1:17:22 [3] 18.31 km (4:14 / km) +46m 4:10 / km

Easy canal. Was originally going to do an hour, but decided to do an extra 15mins at a more steady pace (3:40/km) near the end. Not really sure why but just felt like it. Very bad blistering again in the shoes. Hopefully will wear them in soon.

Easy pre-breakfast round the lanes. Fairly undulating but only one noticeable hill. Nice and chill and felt good. Liked the new shoes, but didn’t rate the new sock/new shoe combo. Ended up with a couple of blisters.

Boxing Day Session: 20min T (4), 4x2min (1)

20T @ 3:19/km Pace
2mins @ ~3:00/km Pace

Happy with this. Along the canal which turned out to be very packed so did most of it on the loose packed quieter section of toe path. Started the session wanting to do 3x10, but about 2mins in changed my mind because couldn't be sacked with the repetitive nature so opted for something a little more interesting. Felt very good for the 1st 10mins of the tempo, then a dirty stitch in the second half made things uncomfortable. Still managed to maintain pace in the second half which was nice. 2mins went smoothly aswell, feeling really relaxed. Overall a really nice session, really liked the ne shoes aswell.

Easy pre-breakfast chrimbo run round the Marshfield loop. Didn’t feel like it but couldn’t see myself running at any other point today.

Running 41:32 [2] 8.11 km (5:07 / km) +374m 4:10 / km
shoes: Inov8 x talon 212

Steady hilly run. Took flats and downhills very chill then went steady on the climbs. Just did a hilly loop 3 times, each loop with 2 short sharp climbs. Felt nice and comfortable.
