Watt Bike: 45’ Steady —> 15’ Easy —> 10 x 1’ (1) —> 10’ Easy

Haven’t been on this beauty for a while. Very bonky by the end but was holding a good power. Feeling a little bit sick probably because ate too soon before.

Gym 1:00:00 [1]

Squats and hip thrusters. Got a squat PB finally got the big 1 0 0. Saw a different physio today, apparently the injury isn’t directly my post tib, more an inflammation of the sheikh around the post tib. Most likely cause by me being a heal striker and not wearing shoes with enough drop. Anyway will train on grass and wear more cushioned shoes for the next few weeks leading up to thre jk.

Note

Right then! Half way through selections already. Could be in a much worse place but at the same I haven’t had a performance that I’m happy with yet. 4th, 6th, 6th, a case of steady runs but no blinders. All in the jwoc places but just not convincing enough. Really want to get it right at the JK. Going to rest the shin for the next 2/3 days, get through BUCS and then smash our 2 solid weeks of training. Hopefully that will put me in better stead for the JK. Shin in general ok doesn’t feel any worse than before the weekend but need to watch it.

Middle Selection Race Hampsfell - 6th +1:55 down

Agh. Bit annoying but another consistent one in the bag. Started fast, hit the first few control well. Got confused coming into 5 just before the control. Hit an unmarked open thinking I was too high so ran down. Hit the path at the bottom of the slope and had to climb about 20m back up to the control. Lost around 1:20min here. The rest of the course was fairly good, pushing hard, legs not moving amazingly but still shifting ok. Bit annoyed with control 5 because wasn’t a particularly hard leg but not a disaster just could have been 3rd/4th without it.

Selection Sprint Lancaster Uni - 4th

Not going to beat about the bush here. I simply wasn’t fast enough for that course. Felt in control but just couldn’t shift on the long legs. Flow was good but that really didn’t come into it because most legs were long. Not gonna lie I’m extremely gutted I never seem to come out on top when I’m a top year, just really frustrating. Shin is alright and I’m really fired up for tomorrow so I’ll put this disappointed behind me and 4 more selection races let’s be avin it!!!!

Easy Meadows with Stodger. Felt alright shin was bad for the first few steps then all pain went away for the rest of the run (apart from a couple of short bursts when o tried striding out). Fingers crossed it survives tomorrow.

Note
(rest day)

Shin is a bit dodgy so taking the day off. This weekend will probably ruin it a bit so planning to take most of next week off running.

shoes: Under Armour Charge Bandit 3

Really weird feeling in my shin short sharp bursts of pain that kept coming and leaving. Feels alright now but might take a complete rest tomorrow to let things settle.
