Spinning 1:43:03 [2] +555m

Evening jaunt

48.0km / 28.0kph

Nice evening but quite muggy. Thought about running today but didn't really see the point so will save myself for a Mortonhall job with Mr Mortonhall himself in a couple of days ;)

Spinning 1:39:52 [3]

Steady round the lanes

49.0km / 29.5kph

Set off with no real aim, feeling a bit shit for the first half but perked up on the way back home. Very low motivation to do anything at the moment so just getting out the door was an achievement in itself.

(rest day)

JWOC over and now just a feeling of pure relief. Finally I can relax, don't need to worry about my shin or stomach or anything really. All in all I am very happy with how it went. 27th Sprint, 16th Long, 6th Relay are some results that i am very proud of. My build up wasn't ideal but my head seemed to be in exactly the right place during the competition which is more than could be said for last year. At home for a couple of days now, then off to oringen and 6 days which I will take chill.

JWOC Relay 2nd leg - Team 6th!!!

This was mental! Fred did a good first leg setting me off in a chase pack of about 6 guys +1:15 down on the leaders. Pace was hot from the start but hit all my gaffles. The group began to seperate after about 5 mins and I found myself on the tail of Norway 2 (Jorgen Baklid). He was moving at a fair old pace but I felt comfortable and was able to read my map fine. Stomach was not good for the whole race, just felt like I was going to be sick but managed to block it out of my mind. Myself and Jorgen then linked up with Finland 1 (Aaro Aho) to form a nifty little trio. We hit spec and then the pace really started to ramp up. We were all pushing hard but hitting all the controls cleanly. Managed to stay in contact right the way to the end. Handed over as 5th nation +1:30 down on the leader, job done! Spud had a very solid last leg to bring us home in 6th. Whole team absolutely buzzing with that!!

JWOC Middle Quali - 25th

Simply wasn't good enough on the day. Head was in the right place the whole race but just didn't execute well enough. Had already binned 2 mins by number 3 with a hesitant first control and a parralel due to poor compas to the second, but didn't pannick, stuck to the plan and kept it clean for the rest until the very last control where I didn't run far enough then bailed out to the top of the hill before heading back down losing 30/40s. Missed qualification by 50s so wasn't too close. Too many mistakes, really annoyed with myself because my technique simply wasn't good enough.
