Braids - 2019

Hmm, yeah I'll take that. Acting confident before the race but inside I wasn't expecting too much. Worse conditions than last year and just not quite in the same shape. Started very chill but then worked to get to near the front. Worked through people well on the first lap feeling good. Got within about 30m of Elisha and Finn by the start of the climb on the second lap. Closed the gap to finn by the top of the climb to maybe 5-10 meters. Decided to launch it down the decent to keep with finn but then I stacked it on a sharp corner. Didn't loose too much time but lost a bit of rythm. Just after this the inevitable stitch kicked in along with a pop to put the cherry on top. Struggled home with the gap to Elisha and finn slowly growing, lost the mental battle a bit as I knew I couldn't catch them. Not as fit as those boys atm but will get there. Happy to only be 10 seconds slower than last year in worse conditions. Satisfying performance and good performance from the boys today.

Chilled hermitage with Carcas. Good chat, time few past and definitely helped the hangover. Sore throat hopefully just temporary hangover feels and not another batch of illness.

Easy hour Mortonhall with Tom and Max. Not feeling great but probably because I hardly drank anything before and maybe feeling the session in the legs a bit. Nice loop so still enjoyable.

KF Session: 5x6' (1')

First full kf session since the 4x6 session a few weeks ago. Didn't have a head torch and neither did most of the front group so session was done in darkness. Felt like hard work from the start with a persistent stitch accompanied by the muddy conditions and just generally feeling a bit pooped. Still ground it out at the front with Finn until the last rep where I popped a little bit. Happy to get it done and hopefully I'll feel a bit better than this on the weekend.

Paces surprisingly consistant --> 3:23 - 3:28/km for all so not bad for the conditions.
