BUCS XC - 59th

Not my greatest outing. Started nice and chill but think I moved through too hard on the first small lap. By the end of it I was already flagging. The next small lap was terrible and I really considered dropping but no point in a home BUCS. Continued to feel terrible on the 3rd/1st big lap. Just couldn’t get the legs going in the mud. Carcas came past at speed and quickly built up a gap. Onto the last lap with about 3km to go. Felt downhearted but didn’t want to finish in that way. Somehow managed to gather a second wind and managed to close the 40m gap to carcas, catching him with about 1km to go. I lined him up for a sprint finish and went for it with about 100m to go. I pulled along side but sadly he had a reply. Finished feeling well and truly spent. Legs didn’t show up today but happy that I got round and gave it a go. Shape is there now I just need to get some good results under my belt. Onto nationals!

Well... so much for taking it easy before BUCS. Thought that Jack and Andy Douglas would take it easyish but I was wrong, went with them on the first rep along with Finn which was an insta regret. Decided to drop back to the JT group after this along with Finn and Jack. The second rep was still fast as Jack pressed on and by the last rep I was just holding onto his arse for dear life as I decided that dropping off into no mans land would be even more painful. Got my ego handed back to me in the last couple of mins of the last rep when Jack put in a surge lol. Very encouraging session to run just before BUCS.
