Big stinky long run out to the pentlands with Sasha and Jamie. Craving for something longer this weekend and this ticked the box. Felt good.

Red Moss Kips - 2nd

First time doing this race, definitely more suited to these less hilly hill races.

Set off with Matt, Andoug and Sasha. Through the first gate thought I felt Andoug struggling so put in a wee surge to break the pack apart. Just Matt with me for a bit, but he continued at my surge pace and swiftly dropped me. Got recaught by Andoug past Hare Hill then tucked in up to the kips. About 10s behind Matt going into the steep stuff but then he absolutely took off, very impressive display. Managed to keep with Andy over the kips and was hoping I could get him on the descent but unfortunately stomach absolutely went, so went full pussy mode. Didn’t help with the greasy conditions and not very grippy shoes. Hit the flat and started a bit of cat and mouse with Andy, Matt far ahead by this point. Didn’t feel like either of us were pushing max out. Hit the road with about 1.5km to go and made a hard move. Managed to get a gap and hold it to the finish.

Decent run, shame about the stomach and a bit disappointed with my descent, but the climb was promising and had enough in the tank for a strong finish.

Matt getting the record (unofficial) in some greasy conditions was very impressive.
