running warm up/down 21:25 [2] 3.81 km (5:37 / km)

orienteering 45:14 [4] 7.6 km (5:57 / km)

Long at Deer Creek Hills, was overall decent but lots of route choice mistakes where I picked a bad exit, ran for 20s or so, then saw a better route and bent around. Got a little off in places as well. That being said, it's easy for me to look at all the mistakes I make in a race, but I've come a long ways in the last year, and I still have a ways to go. Just gotta remind myself that it's not gonna be perfect yet, and making mistakes is just a fact of the process of improvement.

orienteering race 12:20 [5] 2.55 km (4:50 / km)

Sprint at Sierra College. Pretty good except for rc to 10, didn't check the description. My goal was to have a plan before leaving each control and not sacrifice my running speed, and I think I did both. Checked codes for traps on all except 10 RIP, made some rc decisions that were the slower route, some I considered the alternative, some didn't even see it. i felt like this went by extremely fast. Meh?

During a family Costco stop I tried to find the oyster bay regional shoreline or whatever it's called, the road that Google maps claimed went through was blocked by train tracks, crossed them and ended up getting all my mileage in industrial truckyard crap

orienteering race 27:20 [4] *** 4.57 km (5:59 / km)
27c shoes: Saucony Ride 9

Stage 4 at Mills College. Fine except for #3 when I got confused halfway that I was going to #2 and had passed it, doubled back, stopped, stood around, realized I just punched 2, lost a good minute and a half. Small bobble on 15. 50-50 in terms of flow/smoothness leaving a control. Legs were kinda tight

running warm up/down 10:51 [1] 1.8 km (6:02 / km)
shoes: Saucony Ride 9

Note

Using QuickRoute to analyze my races I'm realizing I'm losing more time when I make mistakes than I thought. To me this means 2 things - when I don't screw up, I'm pretty fast, and when I do screw up, it takes a while. Gonna spend the next few months figuring out how to deal with this.

Note

Spent the off day in San Fran with Julia, Thomas, Turner, and Martin, put some good miles in walking, fun times

running warm up/down 23:47 [2] 4.05 km (5:52 / km)

orienteering race 27:47 [4] 4.6 km (6:02 / km)
shoes: inov8 x talon 212

Stage 3 at Point Pinole. Tried to push more today. Went well for the most part, but I lost all my time on 10, 12, and 15, when I lost focus, got off, and ended up standing around. Lost ~50s on 10, ~20 on 12, ~55 on 15. Other than that I was running fast and flow was good (mostly), some hesitation here and there tho

Forgot to start my watch AGAIN so only have gps from halfway to #6, up until then I pretty much went straight tho

orienteering race 40 [3] 4.15 km (10 / km)
shoes: inov8 x talon 212

Stage 2 at Morgan Territory. Forgot to start my watch, no gps :( This was okay, but I made some dumb mistakes and hesitated a lot, much standing around. Left the ride too early going to 9 and found 10 first, then saw the forest in the next reentrant past 11 and blew right past 11 (lost ~2 min), then saw another course's go control down the hill from 22, thought it was mine, ran to it, checked the code, whoops
Gonna focus on attackpoints during middle races because I felt like I was sorta just running without a specific plan for a lot of this
Also need to push more, the hills were tiring but overall didn't feel very tired from this. I find it easier to push myself during running races than orienteering, so just something to work on
