:(

Went into this feeling more focused than Thursday, I looked at entries and top 5-7 were in the 11:40 range so I planned to stick with them. Going for ~87 first lap, but even though I was back around 12th, we still went through at 80-81. Way too fast, freaked out, also after lap 2 I was alone the rest of the time. Was dead by lap 3 and never have I wanted to quit a race so bad in my whole life. It was horrible and painful and I now remember why I vowed never to do the 3200 again sophomore year. Was able to sorta hang on laps 3-7, but splits were embarrassingly slow. And guess what? 7th place ended up running a freaking 11:47. I'm not disappointed in the effort - I pushed myself to hold the pace and not slow down during the middle of the race - but idk how to race well, like do I just go out fast with everyone, hang on, and hope the other ppl die first, or do I pace by myself and try to pick people off the whole way? Did I not train hard enough over break? Or am I just naturally not fast enough to hit those times? (Also if anyone actually read this, I'm not trying to use AP as a pity party, it's just a good place for me to put my thoughts on a race and look back later lol)

running race 5:41 [4] 1.6 km (3:33 / km)

RIP.
This was a PR by 3 seconds but I am by no means proud of it, the PR means nothing. Logging it as intensity 4 bc it was slow and I'm telling myself I wasn't tired but at the same time, obviously I was tired or else I would have ran faster. and I distinctly remember my arms getting really tired lap 3 (this didn't happen during cross, maybe bc I did more pushups then, gotta get back into that). Wasn't super focused the day before or day of, didn't get great sleep or diet beforehand, didn't visualize, was in 2nd place the whole race after the first 50m, but even then I was still hoping (expecting?) 5:30 so this was a bummer. Ran a mile by myself afterwards and I'm not mad anymore:)

DQ, 4 strides, mile on track

Note

Now that we're in JWOC season, I'm putting it on myself to train diligently and do what I need to do to ensure the best performance I can this summer. The grind is on.

I'm taking a break from O training this weekend (can't make Pt Defiance bc of a track invite, and I haven't had time to get someone to design a training for me on Sunday), but I'll start up (ideally) weekly O training the following weekend. I also want to make a serious effort to routinely do relevant armchair, plyo, agility, core, and strength.

In regards to O training, I'm generally gonna be doing my own courses and technique practice, but if anyone wants to join, that'd be great! I'll try to post on here when/where I'm going several days in advance.

running intervals 33:31 [4] 7.13 km (4:42 / km)
shoes: Asics Hyper Speed 7

intervals after Team Trials? helllllll yeahhhhh
3x4x400 at mile+3, +2, mile pace, so 84, 83, 81(ish). Actual splits were 80 (whoops), 84, 84, 85 (whoops); 83, 83, 82, 83; 81, 81, 81, 81. Rest: 30, 60, 75, with a lap between sets
Physically fine, mentally tired, struggled to focus on pacing the first set, but Arne dropped back to run with me on sets 2 and 3 so we alternated pacing, and it was great to have a pacing buddy.

running warm up/down 19:50 [2] 3.36 km (5:54 / km)
shoes: inov8 x talon 212

orienteering race 32:50 [4] 5.44 km (6:02 / km)
shoes: inov8 x talon 212

Middle. This was not good. One major mistake on 4 when I saw a control directly south of 4, assumed (wrongly) that it was 19, and proceeded on my line for 100m or so until I realized that I was looking in the wrong reentrants. Rats. The rest of the race I made a TON of errors in the control circle, results of getting slightly off my line/not checking my control descriptions/not reading the map closely enough. It's frustrating because I choose specific process goals to focus on for a race based on what I struggle with, but then I end up struggling with other things. How do I make my orienteering good in all aspects? idk
