Running hills 30:00 [4] 5 km (6:00 / km)
weight:67.7kg
A new hill loop - the "Fairfield BoatHouse of Pain"
Started with 5 hills from river level up the zigzag paths to the park bench at Heidelberg Rd level (approx 1m30s). Then straight back down the hill with as little recovery as possible (about 50s). I almost fell down a cliff on the first descent, so after that I had to detour a little for a safer descent.

I then created the BoatHouse of Pain loop. Each loop consists of 1 long zigzag climb, 1 short descent, 1 steep climb up the stairs of the ampitheatre, and then a moderate recover down around the back of the rowing club. Each loop took around 4 mins, and I ran 3 of these on the trot.
Running warm up/down 35:00 [2] 7 km (5:00 / km)
I thought I saw Craig Mottram running around Yarra Bend on the warm down. I can't be 100% sure, as I couldn't keep up with him. I thought he would be at Falls Creek at this time of year, but it is possible that he was in Melbourne for the weekend.

Friday Jan 18

Running 1:05:00 [2] 13 km (5:00 / km)
Early morning easy run around Yarra Bend golf course.

After that, today was one of the most boring work days in my life. I was summoned to attend Jury Service. I had to turn up to the Jury Pool room along with about 100 others. After reading through the instructions and watching an orientation video, we finally got to play jury lotto. A jury of 14 was required for a criminal trial in the county court. Usually a trial lasts around 5-7 days, but apparently this was a long one - expected to last about 5 weeks! To get to the court stage, names were drawn out of a hat. When they got to about 20 names, I thought I was safe, but the name kept coming. Eventually about 50 people were selected and taken up to court, and luckily I missed out.
I had to sit around and wait for the rest of the day, just in case they couldn't form a jury from those 50 people. Eventually at about 4:30pm, I was given a cheque for $36 and told that I was not required. What a waste of a day! At least I it is not a waste of 5 weeks of my time though.

Thursday Jan 17

Running 45:00 [3] 9 km (5:00 / km)
weight:70.4kg
lap of the tan
250m on, 250 off x 8
Started around 47s, last few in around 43s.
Orienteering 32:00 [4] *** 7.5 km (4:16 / km)
spiked:20/20c
Street orienteering at Coburg Lake.
A short course, but a few good route choice options crossing Merri Creek and Coburg Lake a couple of times.
Jun kept up for 15 minutes, and some guy from the UK led the first few, but soon fell behind.

Wednesday Jan 16

Running hills 1:20:00 [3] 15 km (5:20 / km)
weight:70.4kg
Hilly run around the streets of Kew.
The highlight was a passing a cyclist going up Yarra St.

Tuesday Jan 15

Running 40:00 [3] 8 km (5:00 / km)
weight:70.4kg
4 x 1000m along Merri Creek.
About 3:20 for each interval.

Monday Jan 14

Running 45:00 [2] 9 km (5:00 / km)
weight:70.5kg
Monday night run with Ilka, Nicola and Dion to Darebin Parklands for some mapping updates.

Sunday Jan 13

Running long 1:55:00 [2] 21 km (5:29 / km)
weight:70kg
Long run along the Yarra with Dion for the first hour, then another 50 minutes around the golf course on my own. Not brilliant today, as my legs were a bit weary from yesterday's hills.
