Orienteering race 30:00 [1] 2.0 km (15:00 / km)
(injured)

I slept ok, but when I got up I knew pretty soon that I was in a bit of trouble. When I tried to lift my right leg, I got some severe pain in my right groin/thigh. I tried to walk it off, but it was no use. After driving to the event I put myself through a late fitness test, but failed. Running today was out of the question.

I picked up my map and went for a short map walk to check out the terrain, before returning and helping out with some commentary.

My sports physician told me to call him when I next experience pain, so that is what I will be doing tomorrow.

Orienteering race 14:40 [5] *** 3.63 km (4:03 / km)
spiked:20/22c

ASC Galaxy Sprint - NOL8
University of Tasmania - Launceston

Quite a physical good race with avg pace 4:02m/km and 90% of the run under 5:30m/km pace, but frustrating not to be higher placed due to some sloppy navigation. 11th overall, but only 12 seconds away from 6th.
I lost 17 seconds on #11 (between the thickets - 2nd control on the western loop). I ran right past it, but the thicket configuration was different to how I interpreted it on the map. I looked on the end of the thicket, but the last bush on the thicket I ran to was actually another thicket on the map. I actually thought that the site was a bit dodgy, but if I had kept my head up as I was approaching the control I would have seen the flag and saved time.

I also lost about 10-15 seconds on a poor route choice to 8. I missed the straight/right option and ran an extra 60m around the left.

Really I should have been able to run around 14.10 easily.

I woke with a funny feeling in my right thigh/hamstring, probably related to the groin soreness from earlier in the week. It was only minor, so it didn't bother me once I warmed up. It would however have a big impact on any activities tomorrow.

Running 46:07 [3] 9.46 km (4:52 / km)

A lap and a half of the tan. Late starting due to a meeting at work running through to 12:30pm. A good 10 minute section around the back of the tan track averaging under 4min/km. The rest was at jogging pace.
I had some mild pain from my left groin extending up to my left hip, but it got better throughout the run.

Note
(rest day)

Meetings for most of the day.
Left groin was a little sore, possibly after the Sports Doctor did some poking and prodding last night.
He didn't have an answer, but has sent me for a pelvis x-ray, and told me to ask for an MRI scan if it gets bad again.

Running 45:49 [3] 7.57 km (6:03 / km)

Mostly a recovery run, but I didn't feel too bad, and it was early in the week, so I threw in a couple of surges for stages 8, 9 and 10 of the Botanical Fartlek.
Then a nice gentle recovery back to work.
