Some right groin soreness today. It was ok after warming up, but was sore again overnight.

One of my best runs this year. Good speed and no mistakes.
I was even able to run very straight on my compass on most legs.

My groin was no problem after a 5 minute warm up.

Bingo controls in pine forest

I had trouble with #4 on a stump in the young pines. I ran on compass to the circle location but there was no stump. I found a large stump 30m NW but no control. Simon found a smaller stump 30m SW which he put the tape on.

Putting out controls and then running pairs relay event.

A lovely mature pine forest with some interesting small rock features.

Line course, but my watched stopped part of the way through it. It was tough going because you had to run through slow areas to stay on the line. Normally you would run around in the better forest. The rocks and logs were quite slippery in the wet, so you had to take care not to injury yourself.

Orienteering 30:39 intensity: (1:03 @1) + (7:15 @2) + (22:21 @3) **** 3.03 km (10:06 / km) +123m 8:24 / km

Control picking in the steep granite section.
I remember this being quite open in 1987, but the yellow areas have thickened up significantly, especially since the surrounding pine forest has been felled.

Long legs with the senior boys.
The map was made more difficult with all of the tracks removed.

It was fun to run with Mason for the last 3 or 4 kms.

Long legs with moderate kids, and collecting some controls.
The pine forest was magnificent, but the native forest was much slower.

Middle Distance training from the middle of the map, down to the beach and back again towards the camp ground.

A magnificent area that is really deserves more high quality events. It would have been perfect preparation for JWOC in Hungary.

This is a map that requires total concentration. It is still suitable for orienteering, although some of the yellow passages are now overgrown. Some sections are still very usable. Others parts would need to be avoided for an event, unless the vegetation is updated.

Good fun with the Senior Boys.
I then spent 3.5hrs at the Ballarat Hospital as Torren tripped and cut his knee. The end result was 4 stitches.
