Darebin parkrun

A delayed start by 15 mins waiting for the crowds to find a park and get ready. There were 550 starters - more than I have seen at parkrun before. It must be all of the new year resolutions to get fit.

I was very thirsty by the start, and kicked off with a dry mouth, which was not a good sign. I had a good battle with David Hartly and Tim Bryant (+ double pram!) until the turn around. Then they were too fast back up the hill on the way back.

Mason and Torren put in some solid runs on a hilly course.

Note

2019 Yearly summary

Orienteering 130 sessions, 87 hrs, 845 km. 10% up on last year and most since 2014. Quite a few more Bendigo Saturday events and Sprint training, but a few less Park and Street O.
Running 207 sessions, 152 hrs, 1542 km. 20% down on last year, due to more time injured, and a few more o sessions instead.

So about 2400 km running for the year. Much less than the 3945 km in 2011, but I am 45 now, and I don't do so many long runs to preserve my body.

Cycling (commuting) 396 km, 217 hrs, 3793 km

A few good results to remember for 2019:

1st NOL Elite Mixed Relay at University of WA
Wins in all major national age grade competitions in M45A
Easter (Sprint, Long, Middle)
Aus Champs (Sprint, Long, Middle)
Oceania Champs (Sprint, Long, Middle, Relay)
Tied for 1st in OA Silva medal, but lost on countback system.

1st outright in Family Relays (2nd on handicap)

17:26 parkrun at Burswood peninsula.

Fun times managing the Vic Schools Team to Wagga Wagga and Beechworth having 3 kids in the team.

Mason even beat me in 3 or 4 competitions for the first time.

Jubilee Way parkrun
Age grade record for M45-49

This was a reasonably hilly parkrun, with inclines similar to Studley Park. The first and 4th kms were up hill.
I had the 18:36 age grade time in mind, but I had to run at full speed to beat this.

Running 12:44 [3] 0.91 km (14:01 / km)
