cycling 34:00 [3] 10.1 mi (3:22 / mi)

Baseline ride with my bike up Ivy Hill.

cycling 25:00 [3] 8.0 mi (3:07 / mi)

Back up Ivy Hill from the local shop on a Trek 5200. The Carbon frame was extremly snappy - I almost threw it over sideways when out of the saddle. The bars were set way too high and the saddle too far forward. Will try it again tomorrow after they make some adjustments. The bike is super light of course, but I was still struggling badly on the climb. Part of it was the fact that it was the second trip up today, but the rest is the aggressive gearing. Could either go with a 3-chainring front or see about a different cassette. Or I could get into shape. But if thats the case I should just keep my old moly frame and suck it up. Its easier to throw money at the problem though :) I was suprised at how smooth the ride was. I thought the carbon would be stiffer than the moly and feed every bump to my rump, but it was much smoother than my bike. Not sure if its $2000 smoother though. The Ultegra didn't impress me. Partly because it wasn't adjusted very well. You'd think the shop would have their top end machines tweaked up nicely.
