Saturday Dec 31

trail run 1:00:44 [3] 13.01 km (4:40 / km)
On the trails at the loch. Still an ice raft on the frog pond, but the lake was ice free and dead calm. There were some gosling feathers at one point on the shore trail. The foxes have been lucky. Beautiful at dusk.

Tuesday Dec 27

road run 52:55 [3] 12.55 km (4:13 / km)
Roland Park. Still have rt foot pain from the bike ride on Sat. Tarsalish.

Monday Dec 26

trail run 1:06:09 [3] 13.75 km (4:49 / km)
Trail run at Rockburn Branch Park and part of Patapsco Valley SP near Avalon. Very muddy. Distance estimated.

Saturday Dec 24

cycling 1:05:00 [3] 20.66 mi (3:08 / mi)
A December bike ride. Just enough to get the yearly total over 1300 miles. Went north of the valley up Cuba rd. Temp in the 50's on top of the ridges, but very chilly down in the river bottoms where there's still enough snow to ski on. Fingers and toes very cold. Climbed 1680'.

Friday Dec 23

Note
A stolen penguin has been in the news lately. However, I suspect it wasn't stolen at all. I think he escaped, and now he's on a rampage of no-goodness! This photo from a local security camera was just released:

Its a little fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure thats a penguin with a gun in his flipper
.
road run 51:45 [3] 12.55 km (4:07 / km)
Roland Park. I stepped on someone's concrete sidewalk repair. It was barely marked with a tape on the ground and I just stepped right over it. Normally the sidewalk is nice and firm, but I squished right into it. The owners were there in the driveway and I stopped and apologized profusely. There was some chatter among them about putting a garbage can in the sidewalk. I got the feeling the topic had been discussed before and there were some "I told you so" looks going around :)

Thursday Dec 22

road run 52:10 [3] 12.55 km (4:09 / km)
Roland Park. A little faster each day. I think this is mostly due to decreasing ice on the sidewalks.

Wednesday Dec 21

road run 52:19 [3] 12.55 km (4:10 / km)
Roland Park.

Monday Dec 19

road run 43:36 [3] 10.2 km (4:16 / km)
Roland Park, backwards from usual. Rare afternoon run before the office Christmas party. Lots of excellent pasta dishes catered by the same folks as last year.

Sunday Dec 18

road run 54:12 [3] 12.55 km (4:19 / km)
Roland Park. Trail section still icy.

Saturday Dec 17

trail run 1:49:08 [3] 21.25 km (5:08 / km)
Long trail run at the Loch. Suprised to see up to 0.5" of snow still in the forest. Was about 2/3 covered, 1/3 bare. Climbed 2200' Route and profile. The north arm of the lake was iced over...pretty early in the year for that.

Wednesday Dec 14

road run 57:12 [3] 12.5 km (4:35 / km)
Roland Park. The trail section was brutal. Glare ice everywhere. Managed to get off into the soft snow on the sides in most places - traction but slower. Only busted my ass once. Still sore from the tiny bit of skiing this weekend, which is suprising.

Monday Dec 12

road run 35:53 [3] 8 km (4:29 / km)
Roland Park. One long, skinny skating rink. Sore from skiing yesterday.

Sunday Dec 11

XC Skiing 52:34 [3] 8.53 km (6:10 / km)
Classic on the golf course. I have to drive there from the new place so its not as convenient as before, but its alot more interesting than the ball fields at the local school. 40F. Thats my kind of skiing weather! Map and measured route.

Saturday Dec 10

XC Skiing 38:57 [3] 5.5 km (7:05 / km)
At the local Elementary school. Just enough cover to ski on grass. Pretty dull just skiing on a small loop around the field, but by god it was skiing. Also some woman talking on a cell phone walked right down my track while I was going at full tilt towards her - she finally stepped off without even looking up. Hopefully we'll get enough cover on the trails at the loch soon. Distance a guess.
road run 28:29 [3] 6.5 km (4:23 / km)
Road run around the neighborhood after skiing.

Wednesday Dec 7

road run 50:25 [3] 12 km (4:12 / km)
Roland Park. Getting too cold for shorts.

Tuesday Dec 6

road run 50:17 [3] 12 km (4:11 / km)
Roland Park. Cold and icy.

Sunday Dec 4

trail run 32:38 [3] 7 km (4:40 / km)
On the fire roads at Prettyboy res. with Brad. Muddy and a little icy.

Friday Dec 2

road run 33:15 [3] 8 km (4:09 / km)
Roland Park. Chilly. Need to wear more clothes.

Thursday Dec 1

road run 52:06 [3] 12.55 km (4:09 / km)
Roland park. Left ankle still begins to hurt after 30-40 mins. Starting to be a real drag.
