Note

Sick as a dog. Caught a cold coming home from the Champs Monday. Ugh.

cycling 41:15 [3] 12.5 mi (3:18 / mi)

one-way work commute. Stiff and gusty SW headwind. Lots of debris, and at least 4 traffic lights out on Charles St. Only saw 2 trees down though. Took 3 cycles to get through the light at the corner where the dry ice was being handed out. I've never seen a crowd that big around here! It was HUGE! I guess there are still about 80,000 homes without power in the county, and something like 75,000 more in the city. There's still power at work, so here I am. Bleah. Parts of downtown Baltimore and Annapolis are flooded because this SW wind is pushing water into the top end of the bay.

road run 1:25:44 [3] 18.9 km (4:32 / km)

Run to work. Friggin MTA closed the Light Rail today and tomorrow and didn't bother to tell anyone. I ran to the train station, bought a ticket and waited. and waited. Finally some passerby said the trains weren't running. Nice of the MTA to sell me a train ticket that I couldn't use. And they wonder why no one uses public transit in the US. Its because the transit administrations are incompetent. Shutting down the trains for a hurricane is not the problem - I can understand that - but leaving the ticket machines turned on or not so much as posting signs on them is just unforgivable. I wonder what would happen if I was to ask for a refund of my $1.60? So since I was already 2 miles down the road I just kept going. Bruise in my right thigh really hurting now.

road run 1:21:58 [3] 19.1 km (4:17 / km)

Run home from work. Left the car in the garage there as it will be safer in the storm. Hoping for a day off tomorrow, but may have to run and catch the train in.
