Saturday Apr 22

terrain run 7:00 [3]1.4 km (5:00 / km)
Warm up.
orienteering race 1:18:34 [5]*** 11.25 km (6:59 / km)
18c
BOK Day 1, Blue. Lots of Rhododendron, map a little strange in places. About twice the listed climb along my route. Tried to stay out of the woods when possible. Still did more belly-crawling than I care for. It pays being short sometimes. :)
trail run 10:00 [2]2.11 km (4:44 / km)
Cool down jogging around the fields.

Blue - Splits

Monday Apr 17

cycling 1:45:20 [3]33.64 mi (3:08 / mi)
Work commute, plus. Continued up the valley, up Beaver Dam rd. to Shawan, then climbed the hill on Cranbrook back home.

Sunday Apr 16

cycling 3:18:02 [3]53.6 mi (3:42 / mi)
After a 6-hour break at Brad's house (got about 4 hrs sleep), we got up at 2:30 AM and hit the road at 3:08. Cold! Temp around 50, The lights and follow vehicle worked pretty well. We changed our shift strategy for this ride to 2x20mins on, 20 mins off (3 people in rotation, Sandy driving follow), so each of us could get as much night riding as possible. It was pretty nice, although the reduced visibility at night brings the avg speed down. Also left the clock running during the nighttime exchanges because I couldn't see the display, so actual pedaling average was higher than this by a few. The wind chill was harsh. I wore a jersey, sweatshirt and nylon shell the entire 6-hr shift. After dawn we increased the interval a bit and also picked up the pace. Still pretty hilly. We got out to the foot of the mtns west of Gettysburg and then turned around. I hit a squirrel - just caught his tail with my front wheel as he dropped an acorn in a panic and darted in front of me. He made it across ok, aside from the sore tail. "Welcome to the club"
