Running 25:32 [3] 5.0 km (5:06 / km) +80m 4:44 / km
ahr:130 max:140 shoes: Adistar Ride

5k loop at dusk. Felt a bit tired and unco to begin with but it improved and ended up feeling almost normal. Good to get through a run without any heart dramas before training starts tomorrow for the 2010 WOC trials.

Note

Heart rate from Scotch.
I have no reason to believe this is not accurate because it matches how I felt.

From Drop Box

Orienteering race 17:25 [5] *** 3.41 km (5:06 / km)
ahr:180 max:240 shoes: Nike Free 7.0

WA sprint champs at Scotch College. I don't think I should have run this one. Judging from the heart rate data I may have come frighteningly close to killing myself today. Felt ok at the start but stuffed up 7 losing about 25 seconds. Thought I might still have a chance after that but started to struggle a bit physically around 11, struggled more on the climb to 13 and then really struggled after the road crossing. Checked the heart rate heading to 16 and it was over 220 which seemed believable to me despite my maximum being around 175 because I could feel a kind of fluttering in my chest. Struggled to maintain a jog to the spectator control and I think I did walk a bit up the stairs to 17. Backed off a little because I was a bit worried about the heart rate but not as much as I should have as it stayed around 220 until I got a bit confused by the levels between 18 and 19. Settled down a bit by 21 and I tried to push a bit harder from there but the heart rate was getting back up near 200 by the finish.

I'm pretty sure I had the same problem near the end of the race at Aquinas and I think one other run since then (actually it may have been playing tennis after John Forrest). I don't think I have ever had anything similar happen before Aquinas.

slept:6.8 weight:68kg (rest day)

Down 3.9kg from the record high on Sunday night. Maybe I can get to 65kg if I start training again before I start eating again.

Note
(rest day)

Feeling worse today, more pain and swelling plus a little bleeding. Probably should have been more conservative with the roast dinner last night, back to mush today I think.
Strangely tired, started trying to get up at about 8am but didn't actually make it out of bed until about 9:45.

Could have run if I had to, but I didn't.

Note

Need to get about 30sec/km faster by next easter.
