WA sprint champs at Scotch College. I don't think I should have run this one. Judging from the heart rate data I may have come frighteningly close to killing myself today. Felt ok at the start but stuffed up 7 losing about 25 seconds. Thought I might still have a chance after that but started to struggle a bit physically around 11, struggled more on the climb to 13 and then really struggled after the road crossing. Checked the heart rate heading to 16 and it was over 220 which seemed believable to me despite my maximum being around 175 because I could feel a kind of fluttering in my chest. Struggled to maintain a jog to the spectator control and I think I did walk a bit up the stairs to 17. Backed off a little because I was a bit worried about the heart rate but not as much as I should have as it stayed around 220 until I got a bit confused by the levels between 18 and 19. Settled down a bit by 21 and I tried to push a bit harder from there but the heart rate was getting back up near 200 by the finish.
I'm pretty sure I had the same problem near the end of the race at Aquinas and I think one other run since then (actually it may have been playing tennis after John Forrest). I don't think I have ever had anything similar happen before Aquinas.
