Orienteering race 18:01 [3] ** 2.5 km (7:12 / km)
shoes: Adizero Ace

Leg 2 of Relays at Curtin Uni with Rachel.
Supposed to be taking it easy and making sure we got everything right but I managed to screw up right from the start by not seeing 1 and running straight to 2. I think I did find 1 on the map at the start but switched to navigating to 2 very early in the leg. Actually punched 2 first and then run back to 1. Split from 2-1-2 was about 2:28 and I ran pretty close to 1 so lost close to that. Heart was ok up to 2 the first time but got really bad heading back to 1 so I had to jog pretty slowly until it settled down a little.

Orienteering race 17:49 [3] ** 2.6 km (6:51 / km)
shoes: Adizero Ace

Last leg of relays. Knew we were well out of contention at this stage and my heart was still not good so took it pretty easy all the way. Noticed the difference in speed from start of first course when going around a corner where I had to really slow down to avoid slipping on the first leg I didn't feel in any danger of slipping the second time. Enjoyed the downhill bits but the uphills were a bit of a struggle. Came in 5th but bumped up to 4th by fenry's mp. Big gap in front of us so mistake on first course made no difference in the end.

H3 at Lover's Lane. Intended to do the H4 but couldn't resist the H3 when it came time to register. Started badly with the root mound at number 1. I actually saw the root mound before crossing the creek and even thought I saw a little flash of orange but I was convinced that it wasn't something that would have been mapped so I spent a couple of minutes looking around in the green for something worth mapping before going back to punch the control. Heart did not like the hills on the next couple so by 3 I was really wishing I had done the H5 instead since it only had 80m climb.
Walked a lot across to 4 and 5 but started to feel a bit better after 5 and ran most of the rest apart from a few minutes at 7 where I found a tape with no control but couldn't find most of the features marked on the map and another few minutes scrambling up and down the slopes around 8. Felt quite good running into the last but there was no control so I relocated off the nearby knolls and found it there instead.
Heart has been fine since finishing.
