See comments. Ankles feeling a little less tender today, at least to begin with. Getting a bit more sore towards the end with just a hint of Achilles pain.

Through UWA to the river for a 5k tempo. Started out along the river path but it was so busy I decided to stick to the roads on the way back. Way more walkers, dogs and cyclists out than cars. Effort was getting pretty hard by the end with the gradual uphill on Fairway. Achilles/ankles pretty similar to yesterday.

Easy run in KP with Liam. I was feeling pretty good by the time we got to the top of the hill but Liam had a bad stitch so we slowed down, had a bit of a walk and then took it pretty easy the rest of the way. Achilles felt fine today, just general soreness around the ankles.

I thought I was heading out for an easy 5k with Rachel but I'd forgotten she was planning a long run before her enforced rest after surgery tomorrow. Stayed with her down to NYC before deciding I'd better turn back to make sure I made it back in time for my morning team video meeting. Right achilles sore early, improved a lot on the way out, got worse on the way back and improved again towards the end. Passed Tim & Sue G-T on the way out through UWA.

Solid lap of KP sort of with Rachel. Rachel took off as soon as we got to KP and I wasn't ready to go that fast that early so I struggled along behind, slowly dropping back for the first few minutes and then slowly catching up again. Once I did catch up I felt as though I should keep the effort going so pushed on ahead. Another runner turned onto the path in front of me at the Next Gen entrance and he was going just a little slower than me so I felt I had to go past but expected he would lift the pace when I did so I had to speed up a bit to avoid the indignity of the repass. This is why I was hitting around 3:40/km when I ran past Jan, Alan and Moreen at Hale Oval. After cresting the hill I turned off, partly to check if the Subiaco tennis courts were still open and partly to stop myself from continuing to push the pace too much. I knew the courts must have been closed when I got close and saw two people hitting a tennis ball back and forth in the car park with nobody on the courts.

Easy 5k with Rachel but a bit less easy than usual because Liam was also "with" us. Interesting that new shoes immediately shift the pain a bit.
