Gosnells NavDash
Felt a bit slow to 1, even though it was really easy, just struggling to get contact with the map and the scale in particular. Pretty good through to 7 where I caught Robert Graieg, although maybe should have gone around the hill from 3-4. Went around the top from 7-8 to avoid climb but I think it was faster to go down and up. Hadn't seen it was at the bottom of the stairs. Felt as though I was pushing pretty hard but Robert was staying quite close so I tried to push harder and by the time I got to 12 I was starting to struggle. Navigation had been pretty simple so I tried to keep pushing but I was sacrificing map contact and paid the price. At 14 I punched the earlier control and turned around before realising it was wrong and turning back. I think that cost 10-15 seconds but the next one was much worse. I was really tired by now and also struggling to read what was passable around 16 due to some creases on my map so was just thinking down the hill to a control on a fence bend and looking ahead at 16. I punched a control on a fence bend and was surprised to be heading out on a path through the fence but wasn't thinking clearly enough at that stage to actually check the map, or even the code, so climbed all the way up the hill before the nagging doubts convinced me to check the map again and look down the hill to where I could see 15 which was definitely not the control I punched. Lost close to a minute on that one and most of my desire to push through my considerable fatigue. Definitely felt as though those mistakes were caused by trying to push beyond what my current fitness allows. Finished third, 1:41 behind Sten and 9 seconds behind Hadrien.

Tennis 45:00 [3]

Hit with Rachel and I on one side and Liam on the other. Quite a nice way to do it as Liam would hit 3 or 4 balls to one of us and then switch to the other. That is about all I can handle before I need a bit of a rest. It also meant he was hitting a few within reach instead of just hitting winners.
Drove over but had to walk home because we had parked in the school car park and when we went to leave the cable across the entrance had been raised. Never seen it up before.

Claisebrook Parkrun with Rachel and Matt. First 4k pretty slow but then Matt picked it up to chase someone down before the end. We caught her pretty quickly but then the next two guys in front had 50 and 100 on the back of their shirts so we had to keep going to try to pick up the extra 150 points. The 100 point guy went for the repass near the end so I had to sprint up the hill to put him in his place.

Easy 5k with Rachel but she broke down with 1k to go so I went up to the sand track and back to finish 5k before walking back with her. Left ankle a bit sore.

Note

Right Achilles throbbing a bit when I woke up this morning.

Running intervals 44:14 intensity: (11:07 @1) + (9:53 @2) + (15:16 @3) + (7:58 @4) 8.16 km (5:25 / km)
ahr:128 max:155 shoes: Solar Glide Black and Orange

Ran from Reabold while Liam had his tennis lesson. Planning to start doing some intervals with Matt from next week so thought I might as well get a head start on him and attempt something gentle this week. Opted for 3x1k with a 2 min walk/jog recovery around the lake. Did the first couple on the road and the last one on the grass close to the edge of the lake. Found the grass a bit more comfortable except where it was sloping a bit steeply down towards the lake. A bit stiff and sore around the heels early on but the right Achilles was fine.

Note

Kind of intended to go for a run at some stage but had no specific plan so it just never happened. Not feeling too sore on my limited walking around the house (800 steps for the day according to my watch).

Tennis 2:30:00 [3]

Mixed doubles pennants against Range View Park (High Wycombe).
After the first couple of games I played really well at the net but my groundstrokes were horrible all night apart from one good game to start the third set. Serve was pretty bad as well but did at least hold serve in my last couple of service games. Lost 7-1 to the top team but most sets were reasonably tight.

Very gentle evening ride around KP with Rachel. Went down the hill to visit the new office since we were nearby and Rachel hadn't been there before. Move scheduled for Easter now.
