Peterdine middle distance SOL, H1.
Calf was still feeling a bit sore so I took this very easy, trying not to do too much more damage. Got around most of the first map without it getting any worse but on the downhill to the first map change at 10 it did start to hurt more. I had been behind Nick from 3-7, passed him into 8, had him overtake me on the way to 9 and then got into 9 just ahead of him. I think I was lifting the pace a bit to try to stay ahead.
Made a very small mistake the first time into the pivot control at 15 and got there about the same time as Lachlan. He was ahead of me around most of the butterfly loops, getting away a bit at times but then coming back to me through inefficiency. We caught Rachel at the second last and I managed to sneak past both of them at the last and get into the finish just ahead.
I really shouldn't have run this at all but it was quite good fun despite having to hobble. I think I did just enough to get the 100 points.
Physio on Monday suggested no more running before Italy.

Running warm up/down 10:11 intensity: (3:58 @1) + (4:51 @2) + (1:22 @3) 1.84 km (5:32 / km) +15m 5:19 / km

Warm up run with Liam. Feeling good and not feeling any tightness in the calf at all.

Orienteering 20:05 intensity: (22 @1) + (7:27 @2) + (10:55 @3) + (1:21 @4) 3.02 km (6:39 / km) +52m 6:07 / km

Wanneroo sprint.
Felt as though I was a bit slow to get going for what turned out to be pretty straightforward legs on the first couple. Just starting to get moving a bit better to 3 when my right calf got sore again, exactly like it was on Tuesday. I thought I backed off straight away but my split to 4 suggests I took a little while to accept my race was over. I think I had properly given up on racing by 5 but continued to slow down further from there and walked or hopped through any step or uneven bits. It never stopped hurting and I was thinking I probably shouldn't be trying to finish. Not sure what I'll do tomorrow. It seems unlikely that I would be smart enough to not attempt to run.

Taping at Yetar Spring for Matt, since he still only has one working arm. Dropped Liam off at Garvey Park on the way out and then spent just long enough at Bunnings for the rain to stop just before I started.

Running 49:21 intensity: (5:49 @1) + (29:08 @2) + (13:23 @3) + (1:01 @4) 9.02 km (5:28 / km) +121m 5:08 / km
ahr:125 max:145 shoes: Saucony Ride 16

Tried to do a bit of a build/tempo run in KP with some long gradual climbs on the sand tracks. Felt good at the start but felt as though I was getting tired rather than warming up as I went and then when crossing May Drive after the long sandy climb my lower right calf suddenly tightened up and got a bit sore in a nervy kind of way. Switched to a gentle shuffle to get back home as I was too far away to walk. Tightness moved around a bit and got a bit less sore but didn't go away.
