Day 2. Woke everyone up with the pipes at 6- if it sounded a bit scary at points it was cause I thought it would be a good idea to march across the river and keep playing. Nice 8.00 chasing start- expecting a boring flat route home so were buzzing to be set off up 787m Benin dronaig for the first leg. Broke away from the trail of fellow c course punters going the wrong way to nail the checkpoint in the clag. Beautiful run along the hill to 2 then death on the step descent down to 3. Poor route to 4 - went path instead of straight but Alex was tired so we ended up walking the path so it didn’t really pay off. Fell in a waist deep river at 4 when I seen the control and got excited, so for some reason tried to cross the deepest and widest part. Nailed no 5 and 6 but then messed up the nav on 7 which cost us a few minutes. Made up time with a lovely alternative route down a track to drop a 3.59 split and come in with a nice lead.

Really happy with how the weekend went. A whole lot fitter than the LAMM which is nice to see, and kit/food was pretty much spot on. Happy days. Just need to not get too excited with the free periods and have some recovery and avoid injury and then summer should be good

SMM with cousin alex. Had to do C as I’m u18 which was annoying cos it was easy and we took a 40 minute lead into the camp. More path running than I thought there’d be but ground was generally nice to run over anyway. Class views out to torridon the whole day.

Ate and drank well and felt great-managed to somehow have only like 4 and a bit kg pack despite taking everything and a tonne of food, but tbf gave alex the tent and stove cos he’s in the army. Turned out to be a bit of a mistake as he started struggling and cramped so we slowed down on the last hill. Despite starting as late as possible we made it into the overnight camp before 1pm so sat and ate the rest of the day, in and out the tent depending on whether it was raining, but turned out to be quite social. Had to explain to a million people that we weren’t in fact cheeky bastards entering the easiest course and trashing everyone, we had no choice.
