ORIENTEERING 23:05 [3] 4.36 km (5:18 / km) +98m 4:46 / km
shoes: x talon ultra 260

Went into today needing to win to clinch the GC. Job made easier by a 1346 start but also had flurry 8 minutes later who is best on these short ones. Super scrappy from the start but so so quick underfoot and it very quickly turned into guess which elephant track. This got a whole lot more sketchy as the course turned downhill and it even faster, with about a billion controls in like two metres of forest. The map might well have been blank as all I was using was red lines for compass and the control number. Had to properly relocate on 8 and was sure I’d lost it at the finish. But flurry ended up messing it up also (he was winning by 5s) and I somehow took the win.
Buzzing to take the GC win. Been such a good week of racing with top areas and fun seeing everyone again.
Hopefully I have proved a point. Oh wait actually it wasn’t within an hour of Heathrow, doesn’t count then

Wasn’t too hopeful at the finish with a scrappy run, knowing how well Matt and flurry have been running all week. So was over the moon to take the win and set up a gc battle with Matt tomorrow. On looking at splits, won thanks to my rc to 8 which got me 2.5 mins over everyone, so relieved I stopped at the control to pick a route out. It was a well planned leg and a class area.

So so gutted tomorrow is a middle. Such a boring way to end the week. Not like we need a shorter day, our winning times this week have been a joke

Took the win today, which I’m really happy about. Started off solid and some boost seeing flurry in the distance so spent a few legs catching up with him. Worked off each other well taking it in turns to nav a leg. Felt like we were working off the front of the tdf peloton shouting to each other “come through and lead” while the other worked out the next leg. Dream team, it was good fun, and according to Strava dropped a 3.16 on that epic downhill. We’re both hungry for more stage wins so bring on tomorrow

3rd today two and a bit minutes off flurry. Happy with this as it was a middle. Still the same amount of scrappiness as last two days but managed to correct myself again

Really happy with today’s run only ending up +1.25 to Gooch. The punching start at 1345 definitely helped but tbf I was in the arena at half 8 this morning. Not clean either and was stood still on 8,12,15. Loved the open hill could’ve done with more of that, but a lovely area down the bottom too. Feeling pretty strong running and gaining time on the uphills. Gutted it’s a middle tomorrow. And Friday too. Can’t stand them. Shoutout to molloy I hope ur okay big man
