Up the paps with Alfie- both passed exams so parents paid for us to go across on the boat. Up beinn shantiadh and beinn an oir, beautiful day but somehow got shafted by clouds and midges at the top. Swam at corran sand at the end then cycled back down for coke at the pub before ferry back. Happy days

ORIENTEERING 23:05 [3] 4.36 km (5:18 / km) +98m 4:46 / km

Went into today needing to win to clinch the GC. Job made easier by a 1346 start but also had flurry 8 minutes later who is best on these short ones. Super scrappy from the start but so so quick underfoot and it very quickly turned into guess which elephant track. This got a whole lot more sketchy as the course turned downhill and it even faster, with about a billion controls in like two metres of forest. The map might well have been blank as all I was using was red lines for compass and the control number. Had to properly relocate on 8 and was sure I’d lost it at the finish. But flurry ended up messing it up also (he was winning by 5s) and I somehow took the win.
Buzzing to take the GC win. Been such a good week of racing with top areas and fun seeing everyone again.
Hopefully I have proved a point. Oh wait actually it wasn’t within an hour of Heathrow, doesn’t count then

Wasn’t too hopeful at the finish with a scrappy run, knowing how well Matt and flurry have been running all week. So was over the moon to take the win and set up a gc battle with Matt tomorrow. On looking at splits, won thanks to my rc to 8 which got me 2.5 mins over everyone, so relieved I stopped at the control to pick a route out. It was a well planned leg and a class area.

So so gutted tomorrow is a middle. Such a boring way to end the week. Not like we need a shorter day, our winning times this week have been a joke
