Orienteering race (JWOC long) 1:47:37 [4]**** 10.3 km (10:27 / km) +400m 8:45 / km
shoes: Icebug mr2 extreme
Really tough race today, Lots of climb and long legs. Route choice was important on 2 of the legs were i took the road options and gained time on alex and others. Messed up a few of the legs, 5 in particuar but had a few bad ones still looking on win splits. Stayed slow and steady for most of them and was pretty happy. Fell into a marsh that was not on the map and suck up to my arm pits. Called a japaneese runner over who was running past to help me out but i manged to crawl out before he got there.

Friday Jul 4

Note
(rest day)
First day of rest in over 2 weeks, going to go into the city

Thursday Jul 3

Orienteering race (Middle C final) 38:10 [3]***** 2.7 km (14:08 / km)
shoes: Icebug mr2 extreme
Another poor performance. Had a decent slow but stedy start and spiked a few of the controls. After that it got bad with a 12.40 split to number 6 , 6 min longer than i should have taken. Then spiked 8 but read the control description for 9 so i thought i was at the wrong control, over 2 min lost there. Number 10 saw me read the wrong hill and i spent time bashing around the wrong knolls. Then the pre warning contol was messed up when i found the control for the B course and conivinced my self I had overshot my control. Hopeing for a better showing on the long, less detail and longer legs are a change i think i need at the moment

Orienteering race (Jwoc middle qualification) 44:56 [3]***** 4 km (11:14 / km) +220m 8:49 / km
shoes: Icebug mr2 extreme
Horrid run from me today. Was not fast on the legs and i messed up a few controls. Number two cost me as i did not agree with the map as it showed a gental slop where there was a vertical drop off. I messed around in this area for a while. Missed and stuffed up 4. Poor route choice to 6. Then i was just slow and careful for the rest of the course. Area was technically very tough for me with alot of climb as well.

Orienteering (Model event) 50:00 [3]
Model event for the middle distance. Chose a few of the controls out in the forest and made a course. Took it fairly easy but was still tough with lots of climb thanks to the large steap ridges on the map

Monday Jun 30

Orienteering race (Jwoc sprint) 16:48 [5]**** 2.81 km (5:59 / km)
First race of the competition. Went ok. Was aiming for a time closer to 16 min. Not a perfect run by any means. Over ran number 10, few poor route choices and slow entry and exit to control sites.i enjoyed it and had fun though. Finished 121 out of 176

Event: JWOC 2008

Orienteering 30:00 [2]
shoes: Salamon Speed Cross
Day before the sprint so took a run to loosen the legs on amap of the base. Just map up a course with permanent controls that are out in the forest and on the grounds. Easy run with little serois navigation, was not concertraiting much
