Jukola Relay - Leg 6 - Echip!1
Was in the "mini"-mass start after some interesting runs by 3/4/5th legs. Hands down the best orienteering experience I've ever had though - absolutely incredible. Basically just 1h50 of running round an incredible forest with hundreds of men having a very sociable time.
I was always in contact with the map enough to know what group to go with to different gaffles/make my own decision if I thought we were going a bit wrong, but I also didn't do much decision making/navigation in the middle of the legs.
One small mistake right near the beginning, but other than that I was clean - a guy had just stated he was going to follow me because "you're better than me", I was a bit confused so took a couple of seconds to relocate when he left me and went more in the wrong decision whereas I found the control!
One other bad route decision by me - decided I wanted some water so went a little out of my way to get some. Probably wasn't necessary - no tracks on any of the terrain and I was by myself (always worrying in Jukola...). Found everyone again OK, but definitely lost time with not much extra benefit of the water.
Overall an incredible race - my longest orienteering yet - and one I will be repeating in the future, Jukola is amazing!

Venla Relay - leg 4 for OK Ravinen 3
Really good race, and super nice to be back racing in Scandi terrain again. Pretty good runs by the rest of the team meant I got set off in just under 200th. Had to remind myself to trust myself at the 1st control when I saw another control and wanted to check it despite knowing where I was... 1 small mistake at the 3rd last control as I was leading a train, but one of the other girls quickly relocated and we were just on the edge of the control circle so didn't loose much time. Finished in 196th and as fastest Ravinen on last leg and almost caught the 1st team (and were ahead of team 2).
