Orienteering 1:09:40 [3] 5.88 km (11:51 / km) +230m 9:55 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Glendalough Orienteering Training

Shoes died a terrible death. Both of them completely ripped about half way round so I walked/jogged back.
Running well in the terrain before this when I could.

Nav was very good when I was concentrating on it. Really good compass work. Long leg was simplified really well which meant I could just focus on finding the best route to run across the heather.
Lost concentration with the nav when the shoes broke but I think that's kind of undestanable

shoes: Orange Inov8 X-talon 235

Glendalough Orienteering Training Weekend
A contour only course and a ghost course (a map with nothing but the control circles on it). Pretty rough area with thick heather and rocks therefore was going pretty slow and just making sure the navigation was correct.
Both courses started off a little shaky however then got a lot better as I got my head into it more and started to concentrate. Realised I orienteer pretty lazily when I'm in GB/Ireland as I can mostly get away with it, therefore really focusing on doing things properly and leaving nothing just to it being an easy enough area. Ie making sure my compass bearings were accurate and that I had a decent plan for each control.
A large bubble has arrived in my compass which was affecting it quite a lot, therefore borrowed a str8 one for the day
.
Also new shoes they are vv nice (new Inov8 graphite grip ones)

Orienteering 30:58 [2] 1.9 km (16:17 / km) +82m 13:24 / km
shoes: Orange Inov8 X-talon 235

Glendalough Orienteering Training - Afternoon session.
Corridor exercise. Again, at the beginning of this I was a little unsure (although I think I was actually on the line in the end). After I sorted myself out at the first control though was perfectly fine after that with no problems.

Note

Flew home from Sweden today and then back to Ireland on Friday. Didn't run much more in Åre as I was pretty tired after skiing all day.
